We were two couples touring the Alpenstrasse and stayed 3 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment. The spacious apartment was lovely with 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus an extra toilet, large living area and, a well equipped kitchen - very comfortable. The views over Lake Constance were beautiful when the fog cleared. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast included in the tariff was quite nice. Good free wifi and parking on site. Nice garden area at the rear of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Garni Reulein

“Pleasant and Relaxing”

The deco here could best be described as retro. Or dated but in good condition. My room was large and included a small seating area inside as well as a table and two chairs on the balcony. The deco here could best be described as retro. Or dated but in good condition. My room was large and included a small seating area inside as well as a table and two chairs on the balcony. There is a very good luggage area beside the large wardrobe allowing plenty of room to store and unpack bags. There is a good size TV but the fact that there was a Sky box was confusing as it was unplugged with cables tied up. Like passing Jennifer Lawrence in the street, it was tempting but ultimately frustrating. Wifi was very good, suitable for streaming video. The bath room was a good size with large mirror and basin and shower over bath, though the shower head was too low for the average person. A gift box of shower gel and conditioner was provided. The bed was firm but very comfortable but the pillow was very soft, even for Germany. It was like resting my head in a large plate of whipped cream. They happily provided me with an additional pillow and I did sleep very well. Even with the balcony door open - necessary during the height of the summer - the room was very quiet. The double bed was two singles with good built-in bedside tables at each side with built in lamps. A somewhat dated concept but very practical giving plenty of room for bits and bobs without the bobs falling through the gaps. All the furniture was in matching eighties wood veneer. There were of course no power outlets at the bedside. People didn't have smartphones in the eighties. There was a radio, also built in beside the bed, though it looked like something you might see at the Zeppelin Museum in nearby Friedrichshafen. I tried a few of the buttons, merely out of interest rather than expectation, but didn't get anything other than a 1930s shipping forecast. Though I might have just imagined that. There was a modern coffee machine but no tea making facilities though I am sure the hotel would provide those if asked. The young staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only real problem I had here was with the minibar fridge. Despite various attempts at changing the settings it struggled to get anything much colder than it was when it went in. Perhaps it was getting overwhelmed by the 30 degree days. The minibar prices were fairly typical hotel minibar prices so I bought from a local supermarket. Beer is very cheap in this part of Europe and there is also a very good range of foreign wines. Still, good to have a choice of beer and wines to greet you on arrival though not if you like your beer ice cold. Breakfast was very good including hot options of sausages and omelet or scrambled eggs as well as a wide range of cold meats, cheeses and a fresh fruit salad. Smoked salmon and Danish pastries meant you could really set yourself up for an energetic day - like the 40 minute walk down to the island. The view is describe as 'seeblick' and even though the lake is distant it is a pleasant, if not inspiring, outlook. And the balconies are private so you have the sense of solitude I enjoy on a holiday. In the height of summer this is the best I could find on my budget but I regretted being 45 minutes walk from Lindau Station pretty much as soon as I got off the train with a heavy backpack. If you plan to do regular trips from Lindau as I did then this is about twice as far as you want to be from the station. If you have a car and/or are spending more time relaxing on the balcony then the location is fine. There is however a city bus stop directly opposite the hotel if your feet get tired. Buses run to Lindau Station/Island every 30 minutes from 5:29am during the week, 7:29am on Saturdays and from 7:59am on Sundays and public holidays. The fare is €2.20 and there is a ticket machine on the bus that takes notes and coins. There is a good modern shopping centre called LindauPark about 15 minutes walk from the hotel on the way to Lindau Island. As others have noted the hotel is indeed in a suburban area, surrounded by houses with the nearest reasonable bars and restaurants probably being in and around LindauPark. The best bars and restaurants with nice views are of course on Lindau Island itself about 40 minutes walk or a 20 minute bus ride away. Getting Around: Despite the long walk to and from Lindau Station I used the trains a lot to get to Friedrichshafen for the Zeppelin Museum (recommended) and Bregenz for grassy beaches (walk along the waterfront towards Hard). There is a nature park and small waterfall about an hour's walk from Bregenz toward Hard. There are also various boat trips you can do around the lake. The fast boat to Konstanz takes about 2.5 hours.

“Just ok”

Everything you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Nothing special, just a place to sleep. Overpriced for what it is. No character, no charm-just blah. Can't say I would return there. Too many other options.
