Adina Apartment Hotel Munich

We prefer the space and more relaxed vibe you get with an ApartHotel over a more traditional hotel, and the Adina came high on our research, and we are so glad we booked! The hotel sits a little outside the traditional tourist hub of Old Town, but its so close to a major transport hub (Ostbanhof or Munich East station) where you can get the S-Bahn train from the airport (approx 30 mins), and into the city itself (approx 10 mins), you can also get the U-Bahn (underground) to pretty much anywhere from here. So if you are confident using public transport in unknown cities the location of the hotel should not be a deterrent. The Adina is located within a new development of Wersviertel Mittie, which has restaurants, bars and when we were there, a pop up fanzone for the World Cup. Despite this, we were not once disturbed by the noise, despite there being a number of concerts and events going on during out time. In fact, we loved the convenience of not having to stray too far to find food and drinks. Our room was on the 22 floor and the view was just amazing, as Munich is so flat you can see for miles and miles. We also loved being able to keep an eye out for the sheep and chickens on the rooftop farm underneath our window! The room itself is spacious, a large living area with a very uncomfortable sofa / sofabed (style over function!) and a nice big bedroom with en-suite, which included a large walk in shower with rainfall showerhead. All the space we had hoped for. I agree with some comments about the breakfast at the Adina being overpriced, but we had planned ahead and had breakfast in our room. The kitchen area is adequate to prepare breakfast or lunches, but you may struggle to prepare anything more adventurous than that as it is quite small, although very well stocked. It was also a big plus that we had a washing machine, as we were heading to a second location after our time in Munich and this meant a case full of clean clothes when we checked out. We took full advantage of the facilities on site, the gym / indoor pool / sauna area rarely had anyone in it, and it was a good size for a high rise hotel. I particularly liked the "wellness terrace" which is code for "sundeck" and I spent a few morning catching the early sun and reading my book whilst my other half worked out (holidays are NOT for the gym IMO). If you did want to be a bit more "self-catering" there are two large supermarkets, a Lidl and a Rewe, a very short walk from the hotel (less than 10 mins), and the fridge in the room was a decent size to hold all of our groceries. We visited three of the restaurants underneath the Adina, and I have ranked them in order of preference: 1. Khanittha Im Werksviertel - a Thai restaurant that was full to the rafters, served excellent Thai food swiftly, and the wait staff were real characters. Highly recommend this restaurant, just be aware they only take cash. 2. Bindass Werksviertel - an Indian restaurant with a wide range of familiar dishes, ours looked an unappealing grey colour but were really tasty. They also have the best sun deck later into the evening. 3. Zum Riederstein / Augustiner Gasthaus - traditional German fayre. I would give this one a miss if I was you. The food was actually okay, but the service was appalling and there was not enough servers for the number of tables (we only saw one and he was proper rude!)
