“Bavarian Hideaway Inn”

A quaint hotel with all the bells and whistles. Staff was super friendly and the steak restaurant next door was amazing. Short 2-mile walk to the city center. A must for staying in Munich for work or pleasure. There is a bar at the hotel for late night drinks.

The area has good bars and restaurants.

“Lovely place, but construction work is damaging”

This is a lovely hotel in a nice area. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Only reason I didn't put five stars is because of the construction work taking place across the road. This is a lovely hotel in a nice area. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Only reason I didn't put five stars is because of the construction work taking place across the road. Work starts at 7am on weekdays and is incredibly noisy. I didn't think work would happen on weekends but it still did to some degree, with workers there and shouting on the Sat morning we were there. Would advise asking staff for a room away from the front street and/or not staying during the week if you want to sleep in. Otherwise this is a fantastic hotel.

We chose Hotel New Orly because we wanted a reasonably-priced room for 3 adults that was in an accessible location. It had good reviews and the photos of the hotel looked great. I must admit to being a little disappointed when we arrived. The reception is small and the hotel feels ‘family run’ in the more negative interpretation of that description. In short, a bit more amateur than larger hotels. The bar, as it is, is about five large strides away from the reception and has a few stools so that you can sit at the bar itself, and a small TV on the wall that was playing a video of a log-fire when we were there. Presumably in an attempt to provide some much-needed ‘ambience’. Our room was OK, although smaller than the photos we’d seen online and a bit of a squeeze for 3 adults. The room, bathroom, and the rest of the hotel, were clean and tidy though. The breakfast room was quite large but very much lacking in any sort of atmosphere. We found ourselves whispering to each other, such was the quietness and lack of vibe. The choice of food was average, although vegan options were atrocious; one of the worst breakfasts I’ve had in recent years due to lack of choice. The location of the hotel wasn’t too bad. About a 20 minute walk to anything of significance, or a short Uber ride. The area itself was a little bit ‘dead’ though, with a bar next door but very little else. If you get a good deal on the price to stay at Hotel New Orly then you could certainly do a lot worse. However, if you want to stay somewhere that feels cosy, opulent or that just has really good facilities, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.
