Arosa Hotel

“Friendly, generous”

We stayed two nights at this hotel and I can recommend it. It is a 15 min walk to the centre. The room was spacious and the price modest. Breakfast was fine. The character is a bit informal but the personel were quite friendly and helpful.

I arrived Oct 3 for a 4 day stay. I came through the Arosa Hotel entrance to be greeted by a lady at reception. The key to #216 (that's 3rd floor in Europe) did not open the door. I called down and a young man appeared with another key that also was not programmed. A third try with another keys let me in. Unbeknownst to me, room keys also operate the lights, but I could not find the spot where to stick it. So another call. The room was spacious and very clean all around, as was the hotel. The view was to the rear with the 1942 bomb damage on the nearest house still not fixed. I decided to go on the town using the stairs. All three doors, incl. the reception front door marked as escape ways, but all three were locked. Thus I had to find my way through the darkened bar (Heute geschlossen!) to come out at the reception of the City Hotel which is connected physically and perhaps by ownership. On the way in, through the City Hotel, I started to look for the elevator, in a dark corner. (Yes we have to fix that!) Going to my room I always had to climb 7 steps up and then 3 steps down to get to my hallway which is being lit up with motion sensors . Again, the key did not work. It needed to be programmed again. The receptionist for the Arosa was not seen for the remaining days until checkout. I left a message on Oct. 5 that I wanted a wakeup call on Wednesday Oct.7 at 6:30 to catch my early train. You can also use the TV but it shuts down the sound so you cannot hear it, but you see the picture. (which does not wake up a sleeping man). Promptly one day early, Oct. 6, the wakeup call aroused me. Later I spoke to the male receptionist with whom I had left the message and he gave a shrug, like Captain Peacock in "Are you Being Served" whose posture and image were identical. He had written my message himself. Alsheimer's? A chance to remake Fawlty Towers?
