“Lovely lakeside location, friendly staff”

We stayed 2 nights over a December weekend. We were in the new wing in a dog-friendly large suite overlooking the lake, with a large balcony; it was a bit too cold to sit out on the balcony, but the view of the lake through the floor-to-ceiling sliding door windows was lovely. The decoration and furnishing of the suite is a bit dull and 80s, but there was masses of space, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom huge. We had Gluhwein in front of the roaring fire in the old building served by the friendly waiter, and walked the dog along the lakeside path at sunset. Dinner is served in the basement restaurant of the old building; the starter of prawns with fresh salad leaves was especially good! Breakfast is served in the atrium of the new wing, and the buffet is impressive, including a carvery and sparkling wine. We spent our first day visiting the local bear sanctuary, the pretty town of Plau am See, and a Christmas market in Fleesensee. We had Gluhwein back on the hotel terrace overlooking the lake (lovely!), and ate in the American style diner run by the hotel in an adjacent building (massive portions!). We chose not to use the hotel spa and pool during our stay, preferring to explore the area. On our last day we hired bicycles from the helpful reception staff at the hotel, and cycled along the lovely lakeside and countryside cycle path to Sietow-dorf and back. The dog loved it, and so did we! After another Gluhwein in front of the fire in the hotel, we headed back to Berlin.

There are several decent restaurants nearby, in various price categories. The building can get hot in summer, and there’s no ac. Also, there is a very busy road a few hundred meters in front of the building.

“The advertising is better than reality.”

I don't know why most hotels seem to mess with their new guests. I arrived, having booked a room with a lake view, and was given a room under the roof with no Wi-Fi and a lake view through the bathroom window. I don't know why most hotels seem to mess with their new guests. I arrived, having booked a room with a lake view, and was given a room under the roof with no Wi-Fi and a lake view through the bathroom window. My complaint was met with a slight eye roll at reception and the explanation that the hotel was fully booked. There were 10 cars in the parking lot, but it had space for 100. Eventually, I did get a room with a lake view and Wi-Fi. It had a bed with a saggy mattress and all the charm of the 90s. No kettle, no coffee, no tea in the room. The spa area is decent, I couldn't find the gym, and the à la carte food was a poor attempt at being good, but not very well executed. It wasn't exactly cheap and was served with a touch of stress. The continental breakfast was ok. Would I come back? No.

Beautiful Castle Hotel in Mecklenburg Vorpommern. The castle overlooks the Mûritz Lake. I found the Lakeside Room in Castle small. However it was tastefully decorated. Added plus was the view on terrace and Lake. We went in August and it was very very hot. Air conditioning would have made our stay comfortable. More than adequate parking, wheel chair friendly. It's perfect for children, the elderly and disabled. There is an indoor pool, wellness and sauna. However no hairdressers. The Hotel has four Restaurants on property, a new building with modern rooms, the Castle and the possibility to rent a cycle. The area is perfect for cyclists. Food and dinner in Ritter Keller was average and also at breakfast. However, it was excellent at fischerhus.
