I have read lots of negative comments about this hotel. If you are paying budget prices you need to be prepared for basic accommodation. We were on the 4th floor which is the top floor. The lift only goes upto floor 3 so be prepared. We knew that we had a private bathroom that was separate to our room, however it did not specify there would be a separate WC and separate shower room with no key to lock them so basically anyone could have used them without us knowing. Our room was nice and clean and had a sink in there and fridge. The door handle was damaged and loose which I didn’t appreciate. The area around the hotel is a bit run down with a lot of homeless people albeit we didn’t feel threatened by them. Be prepared to pay city tax. Only a couple of euros but not advertised. Also make sure you get down before 0900 for breakfast. Most hotels are open until 1000am for breakfast but this one isn’t. The hotel manager was adamant he had told us 0900 but I didn’t remember him saying. We arrived down just after 0900. They did allow us to get a drink and did bring back out a bit of ham and cheese that had been wrapped in selophane but we didn’t fancy it to be honest. Overall I think the people who have given 1 or 2 stars in their reviews are a bit harsh but definitely 3 star out of 5 review at the very best.

Enjoyed my stay here, despite what some older reviews here suggest. It's easy to find, just go across the road at the Kirchenallee (rear) exit of the main railway station (Hbf), go down the first street on your right (Bremener Reihe) and it's round the corner on your right. Not a dodgy area at all, only a betting shop and arcade (Spielhalle) on the other side of the road. It's basic, a bit old fashioned and jaded but everything worked well on my stay - easy to adjust the heat, bed was comfortable enough, shower was fine, wi-fi perfectly ok (even on 4th floor), breakfast was adequate enough and the room had a water boiling device (an archaic form of kettle) which was a big plus point for me. By no means luxurious but by big city centre standards pretty good value and ideally located for the main attractions. I would certainly stay again in the future.

The hotel is perfectly located from the Hamburg central station..make sure to take the Kirchenelle exit. Once you are out it a 5 min straight walk down the lane and the hotel is on your right side. It’s on the back side of the building facing the station. The entrance has a few steps to climb and the reception is 10 mts on your left when you enter. Rooms: The rooms are in different levels although mine was in the lower ground. I think there were other 5 rooms on that level and don’t think I saw any elevator to this level although they do have an elevator for the other floors. My room has a single bed, bedside table, a cupboard plus working desk with water kettle in it. The bathroom was small but precise and they had a hand sink area separate next to the entrance door. Also a rack for the luggage was in the room which was perfect. Breakfast: It was served next to the reception area which was their dining space and had a seating for about 20-25 people... the set up was straight forward and basic. the breakfast offered cereals, Tetra Pack juice, canned fruits, cheese & cold cuts selections (about 3 types), variety of bread, scrambled & boiled eggs which were Pre cooked. Tea coffee was also on the buffet in thermos. The staff were helpful, polite and efficient. Upon checkout I stored my luggage and they very kindly offered to do so and it was fine when I came back. I also saw shower & toilet facilities next to the guest toilet which was facilities for early arrival or late check out clients. The hotel might not be the most comfortable for families considering the surrounding has many adult shops and crowded street full of doner kebab place however this could be a great location for individuals and couples. Overall what I had expected. My actual rating will be 3.5...
