Conveniently located close to the highway and not far from town, but still in a nice quiet area. Good parking. Restaurant and bar in hotel as well, so if you are tired and don't want to go out to eat it's very convenient. They also had a vending machine for snacks, and free fruit. When we were there they only had buffet option for dinner, which didn't look that impressive, so we just had some pizza from the bar, and it was perfectly fine. The breakfast buffet was better. They had a tiny fridge in the room so we could keep some stuff cold ourselves, which was very practical. Comfortable bed, good size bathroom, very clean premises and nice employees.

When you are driving on A1 and need a break for the night this is an excellent option. Just off the highway but not on one of the typical not so nice parking spaces slash petrol stations. The rooms were very well sound proofed so you did not get disturbed by the traffic at all. Bar stays open until midnight during the week so time to get a night cap if you are in the mood for that. Ok price and clean rooms.

Leonardo Hotel Hamburg Stillhorn did exactly what a business hotel should do: it kept things running smoothly while I got on with work. I stayed three nights on a work trip and spent a fair bit of time in the seminar rooms. The service was consistently solid, and the buffet lunch was genuinely good – the sort of “no drama, everyone’s fed” setup you quietly appreciate between sessions. Dinner, however, felt a little limited. In the evenings it was either the buffet in the restaurant (which was fairly empty when I looked in), or pizza via the bar or to your room. Delivery isn’t much of a backup plan here either – Lieferando options seemed pretty thin, simply because there’s not a lot around. The bar area is pleasant enough for a post-training beer, and the rooms are perfectly fine overall. One small practical downside (especially on a business stay): the desk in my room was quite narrow, so it’s fine for quick emails, but not ideal if you need to park a laptop there and use it as a proper replacement office for a few hours. Also, at least in my room, the window felt a bit dated, and with the room being warm I ended up opening it at night. That’s when the location makes itself known: the hotel sits right next to the motorway, so with an open window the noise can be a nuisance. Not the hotel’s fault, but worth knowing. Parking, on the other hand, is easy – ample spaces and no stress. Location-wise, it’s practical if you’re arriving by car and want quick access in and out of Hamburg. It’s less charming if you fancy a stroll with something to look at. There are options, though: Johannisberg isn’t too far by bus or about a 45–50 minute walk. A few participants took an Uber to a local S-Bahn station and headed into central Hamburg for the evening without much fuss. Also handy: Hamburg-Harburg station is a short taxi ride away, which is useful if you’re heading south and catching long-distance trains. Verdict: a reliable base for business meetings and training days; as a tourist stop, I’d probably look somewhere with fewer lorries and more atmosphere. Tip: if you’re a light sleeper, keep the window shut and ask for a quieter room away from the motorway side. Would I stay again? Yes – for work, not for a city break.
