I am writing in order to express my greatest appreciation for the service that my family and I received during our last visit to the Hilton Mainz Hotel. My wife is an Air Canada pilot who received a last minute assignment to fly to Mainz during the busy holiday season this last Christmas. Our family quickly jumped at the opportunity to visit Mainz and experience all that this great city has to offer including the wonderful Christmas markets. As we were traveling last minute and using standby tickets we were forced to take a non direct route that had us arriving at the hotel several hours earlier than my wife. Upon arrival we were hopeful that we would be able to secure an extra room as we needed sleeping accommodations for four people but of my wife's reservation only had two beds. Malika greeted us at the check in counter and quickly took charge of this situation. Within a few minutes she had arranged our last minute hotel room and at a better rate then I was able to book the room online. She also arranged for an early check in and at checkout that matched with my wife's late check out the next day. All of this service was greatly appreciated and offered in such a kind, generous, and happy attitude. Truly, Malika is a great ambassador of the Hilton Mainz hotel. Thank you kindly, Scott

“A nice hotel but a very poor offering for an Executive Lounge”

We enjoyed a two night stay at the Hilton Mainz. In short summary a nice hotel. Our room was lovely and we were grateful as Diamond members to be upgraded to a junior suite. Reception staff were lovely. Breakfast was of a good quality with lots of options in a pleasant environment. A considerable let down for this hotel is the so called Executive Lounge. The hotel is gilding the lily a little in saying they have one. There is a room they call the Executive Lounge but it is nothing more than a converted hotel room I think. Very little in the way of food offerings not even any staff member serving on one of the two evenings. I have visited cemeteries with more atmosphere than the lounge. It is a great pity as there are plenty of other places they could run the lounge whilst awaiting the long spoken about refurbishment of a lounge on a higher floor. I would suggest either make more of an effort now with the existing facilities or close the So called Executive Lounge until it can be done properly. Why not put it in part of the restaurant or in a room of the 1st floor where the meeting rooms are located in the interim. A nice hotel with a sub par offering for a lounge.

Biggest disappointments were the executive lounge and breakfast on Sunday morning. Executive lounge offered their self-serve happy hour till 8pm, but the food was extremely lacking, see pics (pizza bread, cole slaw, a few pieces of fruit, bread & butter with very little cheese left), and no Prosecco or Sparkling Wine was offered. The room was very uncomfortable to sit in with no arm chairs or sofas, but closer to kitchen table and chairs. The heat in the room was excessive, and everyone's conversations echoed around the room and competed with each other. We were pleasantly surprised when we were told gleuwein was offered outside on the patio till 10p, but we thought it was complimentary the way it was offered, and when we got outside, no one was present to serve, so we thought it also was self-serve. I suggest a sign is put in the executive lounge advertising the gleuwein for €4 till 10pm in English & German or it is offered during exec happy hour at no charge! The patio by the river was amazing with heaters, blankets, and wooden barrels to sit in, as well as a walking path along the river. Breakfast on Sunday morning was excessively crowded. We woke late and were in a rush and couldn't even get a cup of coffee or tea on a snowy morning because of long lines at each station after waiting in line just to get our table! There should be a hot drink station, at least, in the lobby! The breakfast looked amazing, but we didn't have the time to wait in all of the lines and therefore didn't get to enjoy it. Bus to the city centre or kastel station was extremely convenient, picking up right in front of the hotel. Staff were professional and helpful, especially the girl who worked the exec lounge. As a diamond member, I received a room upgrade before arrival from twin room to twin room with city view. Room was very nice on 5th floor, and comfortable with robes.
