I stayed at at Asa Royal for 2 nights with 6 other friends to attend a wedding in Accra. The fact that it is located by the roadside should not put off people from staying there. It's peaceful and serene. Surroundings are very safe and you can get transportation to any part of town at a very cheap cost. The beach is a walking distance. We had our dinner on the outside lounge overlooking the street and the view was nice (a little of night life in Labadi). The rooms are appropriate and well kept. Service was OK (more room for improvement though). Will visit again.

“Clean and friendly”

It was a nice clean hotel In Accra near the beach. It is about $3-5 to get most places in the city, not many restaurants near so we went to osu to eat but it is only about a $3 cab. We had a shower leak but they came to fix it quickly and allowed for very late check out for a minimal fee

I stayed at this Ghanaian-run establishment a few years ago. Was told Ghanaian professionals attending local conventions reside here because it’s reasonably priced and provides decent living by Ghanaian standards. So I stayed and loved it so much that I decided to book again (2018), especially with the discount rate they offered. Gosh, a few years can make a BIG difference! What was once a reasonable place to stay has turned into a shabby establishment in need of a facelift. It’s such a shame as my first visit was such a good experience. The reception area is now so dark and dingy with no natural light which didn’t make a good first impression on entry. My room also felt a bit used and worn out unlike before. The TV in my room didn’t work either, so staff suggested that I move to another room. The communal balcony area that provides an eating area and a view of the trade fair also needs a good clean. This probably hasn’t been done in a while through lack of use. Food has also become average and a bit overpriced in my opinion. At times, I also felt that I was bothering staff at reception with my questions and requests for food from the onsite restaurant. They seemed dismissive and nonchalant at times. Putting all this aside, the hotel’s location is really good. Everyone knows where the trade fair is and the hotel is literally opposite. Even though the hotel is on a main road, the area is surprisingly quiet and feels safe. It’s just down the road from the famous La Palm four/five star hotel and La beach which is a 15-20 min walk. The hotel is also a 10-min taxi ride into Osu (Oxford Street) tourist area. I may consider staying here again simply because of the location. But that’s it. It’s a place with SO much potential. It just needs a few simple things to bring it up to the standard it once was to compete in the competitive market of Air BnB and modern guest house / hotels across the city.
