Proteus Blu was a we come escape after traveling through Turkey for two weeks! A true paradise. The room was very comfortable and nicely furnished. We ate at the Simplicity restaurant 3 times and each time everything was delicious. The Pool and Ocean swimming areas are very nice with cabanas and cushioned lounge chairs. I highly recommend Proteus Blue for a relaxing escape!

The Proteas Blu Resort more than exceeded our expectations! From the moment we arrived, Magda and her whole team at the front desk welcomed us, answered any question we had, and offered many suggestions as to what to do on the island. Breakfast every morning was wonderful with a very large selection of foods. Penelope, at the omelet station, always had a smile on her face and prepared delicious egg dishes. The servers were always attentive and also provided a friendly face in the morning. The decor of the hotel was clean and bright. Even though it was on the modern side, the decor was warm and welcoming with the wooden furniture touches. The chairs were all very comfortable and there were amazing views of the water from wherever you sat. The infinity pool was large and the pool lounge chairs were plentiful. No matter what you wanted to do…read a book, sit in the sun or lounge under an umbrella, there was a place to sit on the large deck. And again, the views were spectacular. If the beach was more your style, the chairs were located at the foot of the beautiful bay. The relaxing sound of the water is something we still talk about. We were very fortunate to have had a room with a private pool and it was unforgettable to end the day with a quiet swim in front of your door. The cleaning staff were also meticulous in keeping our room spotless. We hope to one day go back to the hotel. We have travelled extensively throughout the Greek islands and this has become one the best experiences we have ever had. We commend the hotel on the outstanding job they have done!!!

This is probably one of the frist times I have experienced the pictures didn’t lie. The hotel and outdoor areas are incredibly beautiful and well thought out. We were warmly welcomed outside upon arrival by the friendly hotel staff. Our luggage was taken down to our room while we enjoyed a lovely welcome drink in the lounge. The room was clean, stylish, tasteful and modern. The view was absolutely stunning as we had a room both down by the sea and on the top floor. In the room, we found sun hats, slippers, a beach bag and a bottle of wine waiting for us. We stayed here the first week of September, and the hotel was more or less fully booked. Still, it never felt crowded. There were always sunbeds available at the beach or by the pool. Of course, breakfast was a bit busier, but we always found a table outside on the balcony with panoramic view. The hotel staff also seemed to make sure there was no so-called “towel mafia” reserving sunbeds in advance. Breakfast was very delicate and offered a wide variety, both healthy and indulgent options. Something for everyone. Everything was spotless and there were always plenty of staff tidying up, refilling and serving fresh coffee or juice on request. Every day, we received small gifts in the beach bag hung outside our door – bracelets, playing cards, hand fans, white wine, magnets. Such a fun and thoughtful touch. Taxi prices are fixed, so you can trust that there’s no fuss. €8 down to Pythagoreio, pre-ordered €20 to the airport. The reception arranged taxis quickly, and they always arrived on time. We always had lunch at the pool bar – fantastic food. We highly recommend the gyros, club sandwich and calamari. Good selection of beer and other drinks too. Prices are a bit higher than in Pythagoreio, but still very reasonable. We also recommend booking the Greek night – an incredible amount of delicious food and drinks for a very fair price. The beach doesn’t have fine sand, but it’s still very nice. Great for snorkeling along the rocks and cliffs in the water. We saw both small and big fish, squid and sea urchins. The hotel is built in levels up a steep hill. Golf carts are available if you prefer, which is perfect for those who have trouble walking. Otherwise, it’s just a short walk up and down – good exercise and not far from top to bottom. If I have to point out one small negative, which is really insignificant in the bigger picture, it would be the gym. One treadmill was out of order, and the one I used didn’t run smoothly – the belt was slipping. I also missed some weights and overall, the gym standard could be improved to match the rest of the hotel. Things to do or where to eat; - Samos Beer - all the beer and the cookie desert!! We got a free tour! - Aφrodite Garden Restaurant - the iberico gyros. Book a table in advance. Long queues. - Blue street. - Hatziioannou Winery - winetasting. €25 per person. All the wines are incredibly good and Georgios is very dedicated. This is a very quiet and relaxing hotel for adults. We highly recommend Proteas. The standard is very high considering how affordable our week’s stay was. We truly hope to come back one day – it was heartbreaking to leave. As Proteas themselves say: Sea you soon!

Nice clean hotel with excellent customer service.The breakfast was good in fact too much choice of different cold and hot food.The restaurant food was nothing special and would be better with a more international choice. The gym was very small no hand weights and one running machine out of order.Needs some TLC.Nice swimming pool but a bit on the chilly side.All the sunbeds and I mean all of them provided very poor shade from the sun. We were given an upgraded room to a chalet with a reasonable veranda which had sun shine the whole day.The room was simply but modernly furnished although the shower wets the whoke of the bathroom floor.The room contained a fridge which was useful but no hot water kettle to make your own drinks.The hotel is built on a steep hill so you need to be in good shape to get to the main building and back a few times a day or indeed the swimming and sun bathing area down by the beach. Pathagorio was a 30 min walk into town if you want to brave the busy windy road that has almost no pedestrian pavements.The alternative is to take a taxi which reception will organise for you at €8 each way.I would suggest the hotel provides a bus to and from town twice a day for a small fee.Pathagorio is a nice small town but you need to shop around for food at a reasonable price.One day we took a trip to Kusadasi and Ephesus from Samos.Another day a local bus trip to Vathi €1.90 each way
