“Perfect Monemvasia hotel”

Great place to stay in Monemvasia! Hotel was lovely! Had a great room with view of the sea. Property was beautifully renovated and is in a quiet location. We enjoyed the proximity to Portello beach and ability for a morning swim before breakfast!

Beautiful hotel in the fortified city of Monemvasia. The rooms are spacious and clean, and they serve a very homely and delicious breakfast. It is an ideal place to stay (if possible in the superior suite number 1 facing the square and the sea). Wonderfully run by Voula and her team. I believe that due to its architecture, service, attention, breakfast, and views, it is the place to choose. Personally, we spent a beautiful full-moon night there that we will never forget. Highly recommended, and I would like to return at some point in my life to relive that experience. Regarding the service, I insist, calling them kind would be an understatement and would not do justice to the excellent care we received. Very fair value. Very beautiful.

“A lot of stairs, rocks and no lights at night to get to hotel”

We loved our room!! First, we had a king bed with a view of the water. Beautiful furniture, comfortable bed, and very clean. The shower did not have a light inside, so it was a bit dark. We loved our room!! First, we had a king bed with a view of the water. Beautiful furniture, comfortable bed, and very clean. The shower did not have a light inside, so it was a bit dark. Great water pressure. Our next room for 3 nights was room number 1. It was absolutely gorgeous!! The view was incredible, and the room was large, bright, and all the windows have screens in them except the French doors. The shower was wonderful, and we just slept so well there. Alex, who seemed to work everywhere we needed him, was extraordinary. No, never came out of his mouth! Everything was yes, and he took care of everything!! He was helpful, kind, and always ready to help us with any issues we had. We did read about the walk from the gate. It is quite far. There are a ton of stairs to get to the hotel. Even once you are there, everything is spread out, rooms, buildings, up and down stairs. Our bedroom, room 1, had a winding, quite narrow staircase going up to our room. It is its own building with one bedroom on the ground floor, and our room was up the winding staircase. We had hired help to bring bags from the gate to the hotel, then back when we left. There is no way we could have managed of luggage in Monemvasia, no way!! We are late 60’s in good shape, but we are traveling for a month in Greece, so we had a medium bag each. They charge €10 to put your bags in a cart and bring to your room. Monemvasia is a place you must see, but I will say, our first day there I was wearing my Merrells sandals I wear to hike in, and I slipped on the stairs and landed hard on my bottom. I did catch myself with my hands, but the rocks are quite slippery. I wore my new Brooks tennis shoes whenever I was inside the walls. It was never an issue, even one night when it rained. The other thing is there are no lights walking to the hotel at night. I used my cell phone to light up the path as I walked. There were signs pointing to the hotel, but it is very dark. The walkways are not just cobblestones they are literally rocks. Walking on rocks in cement. Not flat rocks, rocks! Some of the stairs are a foot height. Actually quite a few walking to our room. Very deep stairs and they can be quite narrow. I wouldn’t trade any of my experience there for anything, but I had no idea what we were in store for!!

“Great stay in an awesome location”

We had room 2 which is a beautiful room with a great view, next to a square and the sea beyond that. The bathroom was a bit small due to architectural limitations but didn't bother us. The breakfast was not huge but had enough choices and was very tasty.
