We had previously stayed at The Westin and The Romanos Hotels in Costa Navarino. One of our favourite bars was The 1827 Bar, and this review is specifically about this Bar. This year, we were staying at The W Hotel near Gialova, and used the Hotel Shuttle to go back to The Westin and the 1827 Bar in particular as we enjoyed the relaxed location and very friendly service. We were greeted like long lost friends by Danae, Tzena, and Ravena - a lovely way to start the evening. As usual the atmosphere was lovely with a singer and guitar player providing background music. It was quite quiet and we asked why: aparently there was a convention group of 500 (yes - 500 !) Italians just about to come out of dinner and within half an hour the place was very, very busy. It didn't spoil anything at all but we left to get the shuttle bus back to The W when it got really, really busy. But the 1827 Bar still remains as one of our favourites, and thank you to the team once again.

“Beautiful area and stunning resort”

Our second visit in a year, it’s just perfect for families. Only 40 mins taxi from KLX airport. While it has everything a family could need, pools, waterpark, basketball court, VR games, bowling alley etc, it still remains calm and sophisticated. Our second visit in a year, it’s just perfect for families. Only 40 mins taxi from KLX airport. While it has everything a family could need, pools, waterpark, basketball court, VR games, bowling alley etc, it still remains calm and sophisticated. Many families we met compared it to Sani resorts, so if that is your vibe, you’ll like it here. Massive choice of restaurants amongst the four resorts, but be sure to book ahead at busy times of year. Also easy to catch a taxi to Gialova, which has lots of nice places to eat and the charming Katerina’s which is even closer. The hotel restaurants aren’t cheap, but they are very good quality. Our favourite for a family was the Italian. The landscaped gardens are so well kept and beautiful. Even at busy times there are no sunbed wars here, although pool side ones go first! Plenty to go round, and that shows you the kind of guest who chooses this resort. Well behaved, respectful families enjoying quality time together. The room was lovely, unspoilt views of the sea. The whole place just caters for everyone to have a relaxing holiday in a truly lovely part of Greece. We’ll be back..

The Westin Costa Navarino is undoubtedly one of the most impressive family resorts I have visited. The property is stunning, beautifully maintained, and offers an incredible range of facilities. It is so large and well designed that you could easily spend an entire week within the resort without feeling the need to leave. The variety of restaurants is excellent, with something to suit every taste, and the range of activities for both adults and children is outstanding. What truly sets the resort apart, however, is its people. Every member of staff we encountered was welcoming, professional, and exceptionally well trained. Their attention to detail and willingness to help made our stay even more enjoyable. The main disappointment was the room layout. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite, and I would rate the design 1 out of 5. The bedroom and bathroom are effectively open to each other, with very limited privacy. This may work for some couples, but it is far from ideal for families travelling with children. It made what was otherwise a beautiful room feel impractical and uncomfortable for family use. The other drawback is the journey from Athens International Airport. The drive takes approximately four hours, which is a long trip, particularly for families with children under the age of ten. While the destination is worth the effort, the transfer is something prospective guests should consider when planning their holiday. Overall, I would happily rate The Westin Costa Navarino 4 out of 5. It is an exceptional resort with world-class facilities, outstanding service, and an excellent dining experience. If the room layouts were redesigned with more privacy in mind, and access were easier, it would be very close to a perfect family destination. Bug thank you to tow staff members: 1- Eline in the breakfast buffet. She was excellent 10/10. 2- Kostas in the sports activities, such a genuine man. Was doing his job with passion and love to the country. Both of you, you made our stay more enjoyable! Thank you

“Slipping in standards but not in price”

The standards of this hotel have definitely dropped since we last visited 2 years ago. Disappointed that we were put in exactly the same superior infinity pool room as two years ago. The attention to detail is no longer there, and it’s showing. Pretty dirty and grubby around the grounds, cabanas looking tatty and old, maid service not great (despite leaving cash tips for them throughout the stay), mouldy fruit baskets not removed, soap dispensers not filled. The staff are all genuinely nice and accommodating aside from the front desk (an air of arrogance)who wouldn’t even allow for an extra hour late check out despite being a Bonvoy rewards member and receiving this as standard everywhere else. Of course it goes without saying that the prices are significantly inflated to match the supposed 5 star quality. The best restaurant is still Onuki but 50% more expensive than Nobu plus you might be lucky enough to be surrounded by screaming children. The facilities are good and the water park remains one of the best, but god forbid you jump down into a pool to get in… We knew from our last visit that the restaurant wise you pay a ridiculous amount for average food, way better off eating out at some superb local restaurants. Sadly this will be our last visit here. It’s gotten to big & crowded and based on the construction going on this isn’t going to improve anytime soon. Also breakfast has become something of a zoo given the amount of people trying to filter through and definitely not the best standard of breakfast for a 5* establishment.
