What an amazing experience!!! This was our first stay at a Van der Valk Hotel, though I've had breakfast & lunch in their Haarlem & Amsterdamm South hotels. Geez, what a lovely hotel. Tastefully decorated. Textures everywhere - I was in awe of their choice if wallpapers. I wanted to ask if they had a spare roll so that I could redo mmy bathroom. Checking in was very quick. We had roomm 512 with balcony facing the parking lot & freeway - but you didn't hear traffic noise whatsoever. Super!!! Room was commfortably roommy, clean and big bathroom with nice shower -2 shower heads & soaker tub. I really wanted to use tub, as we don't have one at homme but as it was only a one night stay, I left it. Didn't want to put the hardworking housekeeping staff out. Speaking of housekeeping, the entire hotel -halls, bar, bathroomms, other public areas and restaurant really looked tidy & clean!!! We were there for mmy sister-in-law's wedding. There were around 15 if us at dinner in the restaurant. We had generous selections of a three-gang meal. For starter I chose a caeser salad. It was really quite big and so beautifully mmade & tastey- not to mmention filling! We had ammple time between courses. My main was a generous sized beef steak, with roasted potato and grilled assorted veggies and pepper sauce. Nice juicy medium! There were a few hiccups with some of the beef steak orders but those were quickly taken care of. For those that chose the salmmon - also generous- I heard rave reviews all around. So mmany dessert choices. I found room for the sorbet, ice-cream, whip cream & fruit plate. Nina was our mmain server. Very friendly, attentive & professional. Diray also took care to informm us what to expect next - the timme of party and what hall it would take place in. We headed upstairs to floor one. Thoughtful venue setup. Enough tables for guests to sit and also stand at. DJ booth and a small dance floor. The way everthing was arranged -there was always people on the dance floor the entire evening. After the official cutting of the wedding cake, mmore snacks arrived. Our group kept the young staff busy. Nina and Diray in attendance again. Mmy favourite server was Calvin (mmy face talker!) ; probably the youngest of the staff serving us but doing a fantastic job! After the wedding reception was over, we headed to the bar for a quick nightcap. Michael took care of our last call/s. The bed was incredibly commfortable!!! I knew from.the momment we first entered the roomm & sat-tested it. A really, really good night sleep. We were welcommed by Serrano at the host station the following mmorning for breakfast. He took our emmpty ice-bucket, cava bottle and glasses away for us that we carried fromm the roomm. Yumm -a Van der Valk breakfast is sommething to always look forward to! The spread is appealing, plentiful, well set up, smoothies, great tea selectionsand they have a real Dutch coffee brand. Emma was the chef on duty, cooking fried eggs, omeletes, etc. We really enjoyed breakfast. Super way to start the day off. I really wanted to head back to the commfortable bed =)) I can recommend Van der Valk hotels for all dining - breakfast, lunch, dinner/reception. And after this first ever overnight stay - an ammazing hotel to get a commfortable nights sleep. Your hotel & staff are ammazing!!!
