Great location and a very acceptable hotel. Be careful with the room choice, ours was small so we went for a larger room. Everything was good except for the internet speed which was so slow it was unusable.

Location is excellent and convenient, right by central station. Unfortunately it is right by the canal and red light district, pros and cons to this. It is loud until late in the night but makes for easy walking in the area. Staff was pleasant overall.

Stan who initially booked us in at 9.00am, before our rooms were available, was excellent, very polite, courteous & helpful. We are 76 & 73 & my husband has a bad knee. When the room became available late that afternoon the Lass who booked us in put us in a room with 14 stairs that we would have to negotiate with no elevator. When I saw it I went back to reception and told her this was impossible due to my husband's knee and requested another room without stairs, her second attempt had 6 internal stairs leading from bedroom to bathroom which we discovered when we looked at the room. In reality I should have gone back down to reception and told the girl she was an idiot and requested that another person take over the booking but I was very tired by this time and just needed to get into our room, unfortunately I fell down these stairs during the night as the carpet on the stairs was black, the tiles at the foot of the stairs was also black and the handrail only went down 4 of the 6 stairs so in the night you got to the end of the handrail thinking you were on the bottom step but had 2 more to go which was very hard to see. We had to put the white slippers on each end of the 5th & 6th stairs and leave the bathroom light on all night so we would negotiate going to the bathroom. They notified us late the next day that they would move us to another room, what was the point, we were leaving the next morning. On the day of departure our "pick up" service to take us to the airport rang the Hotel and the Lass on reception told them that they didn't have anyone by the name of Cohen staying there, even though we were standing in the foyer, right in front of this girl. Stan, our initial contact person with the hotel, told her that we were standing right in front of her, her comment was "oh, so should I ring them back", stupidity. I suggested to the Concierge (who was extremely helpful) that they start training their staff to use their brains when booking people in. They take your Passport on check-in, look at the date of birth and if the person is 70+ years old, ask the question "are climbing stairs going to be a problem for you?", it's not rocket science. There were a number of other people from our cruise who were also staying at the hotel and none of them were given rooms with stairs.
