“Nice hotel but quite out of the way of anything”

The goods- wonderful building, easy to find and very clean. We had a premier room which basically meant the added sofa bed for a child. LOTS of room inside. Kettle and some basic drinks provided (tea/coffee for one each) FOC safe and a good size fridge. Bathroom was nice and clean too. A loo, sink and decent shower with waterfall and handheld. Water pressure was good as was the temperature also. The lobby staff who checked us in and out were really nice. The not so ideal- location. If it’s your first time in Amsterdam, I would probably avoid here and very limited things around the area and are looking at at least 15m walk to nearest bus/tram. This doesn’t sound a lot, but after a full day of wandering or travelling, the last thing you need is an extra few thousand steps to/from the hotel especially with luggage. Google maps will be your best friend. Definitely worth taking a portable charging device as we drained a lot of battery trying to find places to eat/drink/travel. The food in the hotel is less than basic. We were in need of something to eat after the marathon (there were a lot of runners at the hotel, which I can only assume felt the same way) we resorted to hotel food at the bar by the lobby as limited resources in the area. I ordered at the bar and waitied at least 5 mins before someone came out to take my order. They require payment at the time too. We ordered 2 pizzas (Margherita and a salami) and the lasagne. We also wanted a side of chips but the miserable lady who took my order said they didn’t do them! Despite the burger option having chips with it- who knows! I was told there would be a wait as they were busy (max 5 other orders taken?) I also asked for some tea’s of which she just pointed to a coffee machine behind and told me to use that. When the food came out the lasagne was no more than 3 mouthfuls worth and looked like it just came straight out of a microwave meal. This was £17. The pizza’s were no different in price and somehow the salami one was very dry and overcooked. My husband, I’m desperate need for some proper carbs resorted to a food van 2mins down the road called “Tony’s snack bar” -review also done. And bought up to the room some chicken and a massive portion of chips and dips. The best chips ever! Needless to say we were going to have breakfast the following day at the hotel and thought we’d best not. MARATHON WEEKEND be prepared that there is very limited public transport. We found this out on the way home. Thankfully the lifts had a sign after we had left in the morning telling us of the bus closures.

“Ok hotel”

Nice comfortable room But no iron. Not the best location for visiting Amsterdam But a decent bus service a five minute walk away. The breakfast was poor Greasy bacon and a small selection of cheese and cold meats. Staff were friendly.

We wrapped up our extended trip in Amsterdam. The location: about a 7–10 minute walk to the bus station and less than 5 minutes to a supermarket. The view of the Harbour from our room was beautiful, and we were able to check in early, which was a nice surprise. The staff were extremely helpful to let us check in earlier. They provided us a with a kettle upon request (no tea or coffee) when we realized the room didn’t have a coffee maker or kettle and there was a charge for drinks in the lobby. We were missing a hair dryer which staff provided… a few trips to lobby to ask for kettle, hair dryer and towels as the room did not have a phone for us to use to call downstairs. The room had a small ledge that worked as my computer desk, with plenty of wall plugs for charging devices. I was working remotely during my stay, and this setup helped. The big downside was the lighting in the room — it was very dim, making it hard to see clearly. Brighter lights would definitely improve the experience, especially for remote work and video calls.
