As a first-time visitor to Amsterdam, I found the train system a bit confusing at the beginning, mainly because I did not have internet access. I would highly recommend having mobile data or internet connectivity when traveling, as it makes navigation much easier. The location of Hampton by Hilton Amsterdam Arena Boulevard (Bijlmer Arena) is excellent. It is conveniently situated and provides easy access to transportation, attractions, and other essential destinations. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially Junesa, who provided great service during my stay. The food was also good and met my expectations. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would recommend this hotel to travelers visiting Amsterdam.

“Great, but NO TOP SHEET on Bed”

Front desk staff were superb! The breakfast was great, lots of choices. Good coffee and tea! Everything was very clean. Lots of hot water and water pressure. Front desk staff were superb! The breakfast was great, lots of choices. Good coffee and tea! Everything was very clean. Lots of hot water and water pressure. Would have given a 5 star, BUT this may be a European thing, but for older Americans we all would prefer a top sheet on our bed. All we had to cover with was the comforter which I am positive is NOT changed or washed every day. So for American guests please have a top sheet available as I do not want to share a bed cover with other people.

Overall the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Junesa was so sweet. We were a little disappointed with our room. The phone didn’t work. I asked several times to have it replaced but it never happened. The USB and micro charging plugs do not work. The sink plumbing needs to be cleaned.… more

Overall the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Junesa was so sweet. We were a little disappointed with our room. The phone didn’t work. I asked several times to have it replaced but it never happened. The USB and micro charging plugs do not work. The sink plumbing needs to be cleaned. Very slow draining. The duvet comforter is torn.

“Decent Option that could be better”

We stayed here for two days during a family visit to Amsterdam, having been through several other cities in Europe (experiencing a variety of hotels across 6 cities). Pluses: 1) The beds are very comfortable and the AC is both effective and offers cooler temperatures than in most European hotels. 2) The evening desk host (Melvin) is amazing - tending bar, manning the front desk (and bringing service items to the room when requested). 3) The breakfast is decent in the morning offering a variety of options to please a multinational clientele. My kids enjoyed the poffertjes, Nutella and ample drink options. Areas for Improvement: 1) I overall was a bit surprised by the lack of hospitality by the day staff - in that they have opportunities to make stays better for clients but seemingly have no creativity or idea of how to make that happen. 2) We arrived at the hotel at about 145 pm and tried to check in. We had reserved a pretty standard room and at most other hotels - they usually have one or two available but I was told that no room in the category chosen was available. I find that hard to believe but if it is the case that 1 hour before check in for the rest of the hotel - not a single room was available then so be it. 3) They suggested we wait at the hotel lobby until the a room was available which seems like a tremendous waste of time when visiting a new city so I asked if baggage storage was available which they replied was possible. 4) In most places, the staff take the bags from you, give you the ticket and then store them securely out of site but here, they asked us to tag our own bags and then gave us access to the storage room (which was a mess) for us to rearrange to fit our bags. This was both inconvenient (lack of hospitality) and a security concern - I would not have been happy to know that multiple other guests have access to the room and can rearrange things as they see fit. 5) As a gold member -we were entitled to some snack/beverages from the desk on each our days (which I didn't know until later in the evening when trying to secure our room) but the staff who checked us in the during the day did not offer this (even though we mentioned sightseeing) but certainly did process our payment promptly. We only found out when we returned at 10 pm that night when the night attendant (Melvin) told us we had credits for each day so one for day 1 and one for Day 2. However, it was 10pm so our credit for that day was redeemable (we could take those snacks) but it would have been nice if offered at 2 pm when they took our payment, bags and checked us in instead of at 10 pm. All together it was a fine hotel close to public transport and other restaurant options but could be better if the staff during the day were a bit more aware of their guest's needs and how to serve them better.
