We stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a land portion of a Viking cruise. It's a lovely old hotel, somewhere I would never splurge for when traveling independently, so it was nice to be able to experience it. The bellmen took charge of our bags and we were checked in quickly and efficiently. This is a convention hotel and is quite large so after taking the elevator to our floor we still had a bit of a walk along the thickly carpeted hallways before we reached our twin room. Our bags were delivered a short time later. The room itself was large by European standards, at least in my experience, but had the standard hotel room layout with shelves and a closet on one side, the bathroom on the other, before stepping into the area with the beds. The beds were extremely soft, which my friend liked, though I prefer something firmer. As it's an older building, there were no electrical outlets that were convenient to the nightstand and we had to utilize other outlets. The TV and a desk were across from the beds. The hair dryer was affixed in the single shallow desk drawer. At least there was a mirror over the desk but it seemed strange not to be able to dry our hair in the bathroom. And the bathroom was quite large. I loved that it had a fully-enclosed shower stall (no water leaking on to the floor) as well as a bathtub. There wasn't a lot of storage at the sink but we were only there for two nights. Two bathrobes and sets of slippers were also provided. I did find it annoying that the bathroom door would not stay open. The massive fluffy towels were heavenly! It is an old hotel and while it has a grand facade, there are small things to remind you that upkeep of these places is difficult. Our bathroom sink had a crack in it and the wallpaper above the tub was peeling a bit. Fortunately it was not hot while we were there because while the thermostat said 18C/64F when we arrived, there was no way it was that cool in the room, which was a little stuffy when we arrived. We opened the window to air it out and the room did eventually cool down some, but never to the level which the thermostat indicated. Being a large convention hotel, there are, of course, great public spaces. The lobby has a grand staircase with comfortable seating areas on either side. There's a bar on that same level which always seemed to be busy. The floor above contains conference areas of various sizes. The breakfast buffet is massive and wonderful. While not all room rates include the buffet, you'll find an enormous amount of food and will not leave hungry. On the lowest level you'll find the gorgeous pool along with the fitness center and spa. Should I ever return to Budapest I'd be delighted to stay here again.

“Royal Spa”

We are not from the hotel but The Royal Spa and the staff was super nice! Dominica and Bianca helped us during our stay in the wellnes area. The pool is warm, the saunas were a bit crowded but it was a very good experience, we will come back with our kids :P

Wonderful breakfast, excellent service, and a nice spa. Lots to see and experience in Budapest.

Location is about a 15 minute walk to the city center and 20 minutes to the Danube. Its address is on a Main Street which is quite busy and as we had a room on the 5th floor in the front of the hotel it was quite noisy in the mornings and evenings with buses, cable cars, general traffic and many sirens. Our room was quite spacious and comfortable which was very nice especially since outside temperatures were close to 100 F and it allowed us to escape from the heat. The beautiful pool/spa in the photos looks like the pictures but did not seem well kept with wet towels on the lounges and no one really picking up to allow space for incoming guests. We had to call several times for a requested item and to have our room serviced even though we had the “ please service” sign on the room and were out of our room from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Breakfast was included with our room but the buffet was not replenished regularly and tables were left dirty. The first two mornings we were seated at a clean table but the third we were left to find a table. I returned to breakfast check-in and told the hostess there were no clean tables. She said “yes” then said she would look. She did bring us to a table I had bypassed because it still needed servicing. It needs to be noted, Peter who assisted us in the Executive lounge, was exceptional with his service, friendliness and professionalism. By far he stood out as a wonderful example of service.
