We booked the hotel at the last minute through LoveHolidays. The room we'd booked wasn't available, so they upgraded us at no extra cost. The hotel was easy to get to from where the airport bus dropped us in Pest. Using there BudapestGo app we'd bought a 72 hour pass, so took another bus which dropped us right outside the hotel. Check in was easy and we were shown to our room which was on the 6th floor. The staff here are very friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is very clean and the facilities are very good, Our room was a Studio Deluxe and was very comfortable. The only thing that would been better is if they had provided a few more complimentary thing such as the shampoo/body wash and tea, coffee & milk. We paid for breakfast each morning and it was excellent. A buffet breakfast with plenty of options. With several bus stops close to the hotel it's easy to plan your trips to the sights, but we also took advantage of the excellent taxis (Bolt/Uber) which are cheap and reliable. There isn't much in the immediate area, but on our first day we had a late lunch in the hotel restaurant and the food and service were very good. You'd be nearer to the action if you stayed in Pest, but otherwise I can highly recommend Hotel Charles and would definitely return there.

This hotel is excellent value for money and the staff are brilliant. At check-in, our room wasn’t quite ready, so, rather than have us wait, they just upgraded us. Then the receptionist took great care to show us, on a map, where we were and how we could navigate our way round all the places of interest. He also explained how all public transport in Budapest was free - a nice surprise and a great bonus. We ate our evening meal here one night. The food was excellent, served hot and with a smile and the price was very cheap - a 2-course meal plus 1 drink each for £36

Back in October, I visited Budapest for the very first time. I had chosen to stay at hotel Charles based on the very good reviews, and the hotel lived up to expectations. Firstly, the room I was given was very large. There was plenty of space to spread my bags around. If you are a frequent traveler to Europe, you know that most hotel rooms are small . My hotel room was large & spacious & I loved that. Tip- if you want a quieter room, ask for a room facing the courtyard. It was quiet & peaceful & I slept well at night, after a full day out sightseeing. The location is fabulous & is on the Buda side of the city. Buda castle & the fisherman's bastion is only a mile walk away from the hotel . If you want to go to the Pest side, which has the River cruises, the Parliament building & the shoes on the Danube - a bus from directly outside the hotel takes you there with just a short bus ride, that's less than 10 minutes from the hotel across one of the many bridges across the Danube. The staff were all excellent & friendly, particularly Stephan( I hope I am spelling his name correctly) & Andras( a young man who was very helpful) who take time to patiently answer my many questions, being a first time solo visitor to Budapest. Lastly the breakfast was excellent. If looking for a hotel that is very reasonably priced, yet provides an excellent base to safely explore Budapest, hotel Charles is a good choice.

I think what we appreciated most here was that there are numerous buses available from outside and also around the corner which go into the main city and also the outer reaches of the city which actually makes this a great location, slightly away from the city centre, but much cheaper for that reas… more

I think what we appreciated most here was that there are numerous buses available from outside and also around the corner which go into the main city and also the outer reaches of the city which actually makes this a great location, slightly away from the city centre, but much cheaper for that reason.. Check in was a bit of a pain and took around 20 minutes as the receptionist fussed over a family group and helped them with superfulous items rather than doing some multi tasking and getting us checked in. The room was comfortable with good facilities such as a fridge, double hot plates a kitchen sink , plates, cutlery etc. It was a good size and very clean, though starting to age. We felt it was great value for money, unlike the breakfast which we thought was a bit overpriced so we opted to use the saucepan and frying pans in our room to make some bacon and egg rolls. The raw ingredients for which meant a quick trip around the corner to a nearby Aldi. There is a restaurant bar about 7 minutes walk away which the receptionist told us about, as on the Sunday we arrived their restaurant wasn't open. Overall a very pleasant place to stay, nothing special or fancy, but great value for money.
