We stayed in the hotel last week for 4 nights for our city break to Budapest. The hotel itself is in a really central location close to the metro which is very easy and cheap to use. The hotel was clean and the staff on reception we found to be very helpful. The rooms are basic in that there is no drawers for storage so we ended up living out of our suitcases for the entire trip. The air con in the rooms and the hotel wasn’t working which didn’t help when the weather was at times 75 degrees which made it uncomfortable to sleep. The maid service wasn’t the best with the beds almost partially made the bathroom not quite cleaned. The breakfast room is so small considering the size of the hotel. Breakfast itself is chaotic to say the least..! There was no one to greet and seat us and basically left to try and find somewhere in a very full breakfast room .. there were tables were left with dirty dishes so on 2 mornings I ended up finding a cloth to wipe and clear the dishes off the table myself so we had somewhere to sit. One morning we had to squeeze on a table with another couple which wasn’t ideal as there was absolutely nowhere to sit. There were a couple of waitresses half heartedly clearing tables but didn’t seem to have a rush in them considering the amount of guests loitering waiting for tables. The breakfast itself isn’t the best . A bowl of apples and a couple of kiwis is as far as the fresh fruit selection goes. The ‘hot’ buffet was lukewarm warm and looked like it had been sat out for hours.Hardly any selection unless you want bread and Pastries. Some easy fixes for the hotel to higher the standard which would make it more appealing especially given the prime location.

“Good location, but ……….”

The hotel is centrally located with a good choice of restaurants and bars within walking distance and a 5-10 minute walk to the Astoria metro station. The hotel is centrally located with a good choice of restaurants and bars within walking distance and a 5-10 minute walk to the Astoria metro station. Check in and out was efficient and the staff helpful. These are the pros. The cons being the rooms have no drawer space and only 4 hangers in ten wardrobe. The rooms could do with more lighting as the room we were in on the 7th floor was quite dark. The daily cleaning service left a lot to be desired and seemed to be a quick wipe around and towels folded. The air con in the room did not work and the hotel as a whole was really warm which at times was uncomfortable. Breakfast was chaotic with the dining room being really small and at times not enough staff to be able to clear the tables and replenish food which had run low. The hot items were at best lukewarm and overall there are limited options to choose from. Hotel Museum is classed as a 4 star hotel though it is at best 3 star.

“Wouldn’t visit again”

Although the hotel is spacious and has lovely decor there were a few issues. The room I had had only a few hangers and a few drawers . Breakfast room could do with a redesign as it is chaotic. There was building work near by which started at six , and the air conditioning didn’t work. Please ... more

“Bible but no drawers....and no control over abusive drunks.”

Just returned home from a 4 night break here. Hotel is in a quiet location, not far from the city centre and close to the Astoria metro station. Hotel is spacious and furnished in a modern contemporary style. Check in was quick and efficient, but the rooms, although of a decent size, are woefully short of storage. Only 4 hangers in the wardrobe....and no drawer space at all for "sundries". The small bedside units only have room for a phone and the obligatory Gideons' Bible..... The breakfasts are good, with plenty of choice, but the layout is chaotic and needs changing......the food counters are randomly scattered around the room obstructing the flow of customers. The weather wasn't all that warm, but the heating/ aircon doesn't work and at night the room became too warm and very stuffy. On the afternoon of departure, several couples were waiting in the bar for airport taxis when a group of recently arrived young men, of several nationalities, decided to get drunk.....their conversation became loud, offensive and lewdly sexual.....so bad that most people walked out and waited for their taxis outside the hotel. The reception staff were informed of what was happening, but did absolutely nothing. I'm glad it was our last few hours in the hotel.....it ruined our last day. Would we return to Budapest?.... yes......but NOT to the Museum Hotel.
