The Good - The location is in a restored old house in residential neighborhood within 1/2 mile of restaurants, stores, museums, the famous Hallgrímskirkja Church, and a pretty park with lots of waterfowl. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment which met all our needs. The one thing that was missing was a refrigerator. Comfortable bed in separate room. The Bad - Check in was a bit confusing since we didn't know where to go. I ended up calling the caretaker and he came out to help us. The Ugly - The website says there's free parking on the street in front of the house. Unfortunately, finding a spot is not easy and you can end up 1-2 blocks away. Frequently, the only openings on the street did not look like official parking spots. The caretaker told us to park in these anyway which we did several times. I breathed a sigh of relief when we didn't find tickets on our windshield each morning. It was not unusual to have to circle around numerous times before finding anything. Wish we had known that the parking would be so challenging.

“Pleasant stay in lovely neighborhood”

We took a taxi from the port to this lovely neighborhood— just a 5- 10 minute walk to the landmark Hallgrímskirkja church one direction and a 10 minute walk to BSI, the bus station where we were picked up for tours and to catch a bus to the airport when we left. We stayed 3 nights. We took a taxi from the port to this lovely neighborhood— just a 5- 10 minute walk to the landmark Hallgrímskirkja church one direction and a 10 minute walk to BSI, the bus station where we were picked up for tours and to catch a bus to the airport when we left. We had a room off the courtyard, not huge, but there was a desk and plenty of room for our bags. We appreciated having a kettle, refrigerator, and microwave. The bed was comfortable, the room very clean, and made up each day. The tub/shower was difficult getting into and out of for us as there was no grab bar and the tub is high. There is some noise from people coming and going to other rooms off the courtyard, but it seemed people settled down fairly early. We thought it was in a good location, pretty walks from it, reasonably priced, and lovely owners. We were kindly given luggage storage and a place to sit when we arrived very early and again before we left.

A convenient place to stay and less expensive than hotels, but taping individual notes to the front door with your name and the number of your room and indicating that the key is in the door is a security risk and a privacy invasion. A convenient place to stay and less expensive than hotels, but taping individual notes to the front door with your name and the number of your room and indicating that the key is in the door is a security risk and a privacy invasion. I’d hoped this was something temporary, like the manager was ill, perhaps, but I see from past reviews that this is not the case. It’s inexplicable in a place as highly rated as this. I wouldn’t recommend it, unfortunately.
