“Cozy and secluded cabin, short drive to the Glacier lagoon”

Very comfortable and cozy cabin. The beds were clean and comfortable and they were nice and warm. Heaters throughout the cabin even in the bathroom. Very comfortable and cozy cabin. The beds were clean and comfortable and they were nice and warm. Heaters throughout the cabin even in the bathroom. There are private waterfalls right behind the property, and the location is quiet and secluded. Short 10 minute drive to Glacier lagoon/Jokulsarlon. There are a few restaurants and hotel nearby where you can go eat but the cabin has a kitchen so you can cook, just make sure to buy the grocery before getting there as the closest market is about 1 hour away. The only bad thing i found is that there are a couple of street lights which introduce a little light pollution to spot the northern lights, but if you walk away towards the last cabin, it is dark enough, my recommendation is to maybe change them to be motion activated because I realize they are important when walking to cabin at night but if they activate with motion it won't be On all the time.

This is a reasonably nice hostel in a good location for the Glacier lagoons. No noticeable facilities nearby though - no evening restaurant, no shops, no fuel. This is a reasonably nice hostel in a good location for the Glacier lagoons. No noticeable facilities nearby though - no evening restaurant, no shops, no fuel. Kitchen reasonably equipped but couldn't work out how to turn on the cooker grill - symbols worn off on the control. 2 shower /toilet rooms on our floor for 5 rooms. Boy, do some people hog these in the morning. The room, as it's far too common in hostels here, had just 1 hanging hook for coats, astounding given the weather and how much walking people do here. Only 1 electric socket, 4 feet up the wall!! - NEEDS EXTENSION CABLE FOR MULTIPLE DEVICES And strange bed/light arrangement - 2 above bed lights on the same wall above 1 bed but beds in opposite corners Main complaint though is check in. You have to go 3 km further east to find an hotel. There they take payment - which could all be done beforehand on line - and tell you the code to extract key from box at the property. Why can't this all be done online?? We have stayed in numerous places in the UK where an online send of key box code works fine. We had to help 1 German couple who clearly hadn't received correct instructions. Without us to help I really don't know what they would have done

For this place, the check in location differed from the property location. After visiting the glaciers, I didn't realize that this place was so close to where I was visiting and missed it completely driving all the way to Hofn. There aren't many properties in the area so it can be missed with a blink of an eye. The good thing was that the check in location had a restaurant so I didn't have to go far for dinner. Once at the guesthouse, there were lots of places to hang things. The room was clean and had crisp sheets. There was no place to put your shampoo or soap in the shower, no bathmat so it can be slippery when you exit the shower because the shower level was level with the floor and the floor was wet. You can hear all the sounds in the guesthouse throughout the night and there was only one outlet in the room. All single rooms are on the 2nd floor so you do need to do stairs. The bed was a very narrow single bed. For the price, this guesthouse was on the high end, but did not provide high end service.
