I was unable to submit this review at the time of our stay due to the fact that the over enthusiastic waiter at Anise wanted me to do a review for their restaurant, I really wanted to send this for the hotel in general so over 3 months later I am able to submit at long last. We stayed here for 3 nights, whilst travelling for 12 days on our own doing the golden triangle. We asked the 4 different hotels we were using at that time to arrange a pick up from the train stations and out of the 4 this hotel was the only one that we did not need to chance up several times, they emailed and WhatsApp us with thorough details which was brilliant. Extremely efficient 5 star service which we received here throughout our stay from start to finish. The staff were friendly but professional, the waiters in the restaurants were lovely, there was one guy in particular and unfortunately I do not have his name, who helped us order Indian food in the main restaurant which was not too spicy, as Goldilocks would say “just perfect” and it was one of the most delicious meals we had during our stay in India, compliments to the chef and the waiter who ordered it for us (got to say even nicer than the one we had at Anise). We just ordered a main course each and a bottle of Indian Sula red wine (don’t go for the Fratelli, not half as good), and he made it into a nice meal by giving us popadoms and a dip as a starter and then bringing us 2 small delicious chocolates covered balls as a small desert (forgot the name of them), which finished off our meal perfectly. The hotel did run out of the Sula wine on our 3rd night, which was a shame, don’t know if it is because not many people drink it, there wasn’t an extensive wine list so I would not have thought it difficult to keep these items stocked. We ate outside at Anise one night which is such a lovely dining experience, they had 2 guys playing Indian music throughout, service was very good and I would highly recommend if staying here but please make sure you wear your “eau du Deet” as the only thing that spoilt it was that I literally got bitten to death by the mozzies. On our 3rd night we ate in the bar area and just shared a pizza which was also very good, they had a guitarist on in here who was excellent, his rendition of the James Bond song “writing on the wall” was amazing. Breakfast had everything from English to Indian fare, freshly cooked omelettes etc and was very good. The room was very nice, clean, good shower, (the base was extremely slippy but we found the same thing in most of the hotels we stayed in), fridge, coffee and tea and 3 bottles of water delivered every day, they also had small bottles of water that they would give out at breakfast. The king size bed and pillows were comfortable. Unfortunately for us they were doing building work near the pool area and we had planned this part of the trip to be our relaxing part of the holiday, visiting a site in the morning and then pool time in the afternoon, because of the noise and the dust we could not do this, would have been nice if we had at least know about it. Would highly recommend a Marriott pick up from the train station even though a lot dearer than an Uber at 1000 rupee but coming out of the station is so manic and overwhelming, it was such a relief to see the face of our smiling taxi driver holding up a plaque with our name on it. Also the drop off at the station was literally right to the door whereas an uber will try to drop off as far away as possible which makes it not an easy walk with suitcases usually over very uneven ground.
