“Comfortable and friendly”

Really excellent three day stay here in November 2025. Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room and lovely food in the restaurant. Location was convenient, too: the Ganges was either a 20/25 minute walk or 5/10 minutes by tuktuk. Would certainly recommend.

The location is inside a lane with very less traffic & noise.

Hotel Hari Vilas is nestled amongst the residential area with narrow streets. The advantage of this location is that it’s away from the hustle and the noise of the main city traffic while disadvantage can be that the narrow streets are slower to navigate if you have an SUV like I had …. Particularly if another 4 wheeler is coming from the opposite side 😊. But it’s an IDEAL LOCATION because the hotel is not too far away from the main markets as well as the main temple of Varanasi I.e. the Kashi Vishvanath Temple. The reception area is quite small and nothing fancy like those higher started hotels. Get your key card and head off to the room which would be brighter than the reception area. Rooms have a fairly decent size and have the basic amenities such an electric kettle, water bottles, tea, coffee , etc…. But no mini bar though. The furniture is not bad and can compete with the furniture of the higher started hotels such as the Hyatts and the Marriotts , and what have you. I didn’t find the furniture too different from the standard rooms of those higher started hotels. Bed was comfortable and the spring mattress has good quality. FOOD was a standout in this hotel. Whether eating at the restaurant at the 1st floor or ordering via room service - I found the food to be quite tasty in general 😋. The menu is quite diverse and covers pretty much most Indian cuisines (the south, the north) as well as the pastas , pizzas and Mexican - all of it is VEGETARIAN though. For room service, the food arrives pretty quickly in general. Didn’t think I waited more than 15 mins after ordering on phone. Bathroom has Jaguar fittings which is a nice touch , although some of them may have become a bit clunky due to repeated use….given that the hotel stays busy most of the time - as guests keep Checking-in and out for most part of the year. Never an off-season for people wanting to visit the famous temples! 👌 Of course delisted the modern bath fittings, one may find the additional “accessories” of the plastic mug and bucket - for the more traditional guests who like to take their bath with those bucket instead of the shower. But it’s not a big deal since one can just put those additional accessories in a corner and proceed to use the shower as usual. 🤷 Overall this is one of the ideal hotel to stay if one doesn’t want to be too far away from the main temple and if one wants to have good food and fairly decent comforts at very affordable prices. 👍 But if extra facilities needed such as ultra luxury , airport pickup/dropoff…. Then of course some of the other 5-star hotels at the outskirts of the city would be the better choice. But if you have own vehicle (or don’t really care about vehicle) then this hotel is a good choice to stay. 👍
