Ilbert Manor has a charming architecture with vintage detailing. It felt like stepping into a different era. We had an exceptionally comfortable stay at the property and the staff is very courteous. Even though, the entry lane from mall road is narrow and winding, they have a seasoned driver for pick up and drop offs. Special mention to Ayush who was incredibly supportive and helped us in accommodating our dates. Overall, the staff was very warm, attentive and it was a unique experience.

Its a 180 year old Heritage property located right at the start of the beautiful end of the 2.5 kms mall road. The property is small but has the old world charm for someone looking for that. Though it is on the mall road one has to go for a steep downhill walk from there to reach the hotel. Thus one doesn't hear the noise at all. The hotel provides car to pick up and drop more than half way through the steep decline and incline - especially helpful during check in and check out and once one has reached the mall road taxis and rikshaws are readily available. The view from the hotel rooms we got were the valley view which was very nice and serene but not the best. Though breakfast had a tiny menu and nothing worth mentioning about, we had one dinner at the hotel only and the North Indian food was good, however maybe due to less visitors during the kinda off season their tandoor was not working so we had to make do with rotis which was good also. The hotel has a sit out area also which was unserviceable due to monkeys though we did enjoy that area for just tea, picture clicking and enjoying the mountain views and sun without any food. The view from that side is specially great and the corner rooms have the same view i guess. Enjoying the tea in the rooms during the mornings were speacially wonderful as balcony was too small to have chairs. More so because we saw monkeys a couple of times in the trees nearby so we avoided venturing to the balcony with any food. Service at the hotel was really prompt be it food or for any other reason and the staff were also very helpful. One major issue we felt during our three nights stay was that the hotel shuttle from the mall road was available only uptil 8:30 pm in night and if one comes back later than that there are dogs barking at you on the way down. When we riased this issue with the hotel they told us that these dogs only bark and don't do anything further which turned out to be true but coming back to hotel with food could be avoidable as once the dogs came really close to us and were sniffing at the packets we had in which luckily we did not have any food. That lane is dark during nights and it was a bit of a scare. Rooms were clean and well maintaned and wooden flooring and other basic amenities like Geyser, TV in which I enjoyed the Champions Trophy final which India won was great. The mall road doesn't allow taxis after 4:30 pm and with this property there is not an issue as it right at the end of mall road where taxis can come anytime from main road and one can reach the property with a short walk. On the whole we had a wonderful stay. Being so close to the mall road and the husle bustle and still have a quite lovely stay we would suggest this to someone looking to enjoy the old world charm and the acitivities closeby.

"Stepping onto the grounds of this colonial property felt like entering a bygone era. The architecture was stunning, with meticulously preserved details and a serene, picturesque setting. The interiors were equally charming, boasting elegant décor and a tranquil ambiance. However, the idyllic facade quickly faded upon encountering the reality of the approach road: a narrow, winding path that tested even the most seasoned driver. The breakfast, unfortunately, failed to live up to the property's aesthetic. The spread was average at best, and concerns regarding hygiene were difficult to ignore. More disappointingly, the overall service fell short of expectations. While the staff were polite, they lacked the attentiveness and efficiency one would expect from a property of this caliber. While the beauty of the colonial architecture and setting are undeniable, the challenging access, mediocre breakfast, and subpar service ultimately overshadowed the experience. A beautiful shell, but lacking substance."
