We had the best time at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge. The room, food and surroundings are all great. We saw many beautiful birds, listened to their calls and relaxed in the surrounding nature. The staff is extremely helpful and kind and made the experience even better! We will definitely be back again.

We stayed at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge for a leisure and birding trip. The weather during our visit was quite turbulent, with storms, thunderstorms, and rapidly changing conditions. One full day was washed out, which impacted birding plans. Temperatures dropped well below the forecast (around 10°C or lower) with strong winds. The staff were helpful throughout, especially Kundan, our bird guide, who was very skilled and supportive, and manager Bhuwan, who was responsive. Despite the weather, we had some memorable sightings, including a close view of a Yellow-throated Marten and even a leopard at Cheer point. The Cheer Cottage at Jungle Lore is the best stay option. In comparison, the Cheer Nest cottage(similar names) at the adjacent Kafal House property is more basic, not value for money. Jungle Lore rooms had electric blankets, heaters, and kettle with tea/coffee supplies. At Kafal House, heaters were available but no kettle or tea/coffee setup; electric blankets were provided on request and decor and upkeep was very basic. Geysers were available in both, but all facilities depended on electricity, which was inconsistent due to the weather. Food is simple, homely, and well-prepared, with good vegetarian options, though it can feel repetitive over multiple days. We also found that arranging a cab independently (we used Kishore Travels from Haridwar) was significantly more economical than booking through the lodge. Overall, the stay, including the food, is good value for money for the location. It’s best approached as a birding lodge in a remote hilly village rather than a typical hotel setup, and in that context, the lodge does a commendable job. Super clean and no urban noise, except for the pet dogs barking.
