My 4 day stay at Hideaway Villas Uluwatu was superb. For all the Karens out there, here’s a full breakdown of the major likes and minor dislikes! Starting with the staff, they were incredibly kind and helpful throughout the entire stay. A special honorable mention goes to Maharani, who was exceptional in every way. She paid attention to the smallest details, gave thoughtful breakfast recommendations, and consistently went the extra mile. I genuinely looked forward to interacting with her every morning at breakfast and was bummed not to see her on my last day since she was off. One moment that really stood out: we mentioned that we would miss breakfast one morning due to an early pickup for Nusa Penida. Maharani immediately explained that the hotel could prepare takeaway breakfast boxes for us the night before. She arranged everything, and it was delivered exactly as promised. That level of care deserves recognition. Also, Widi at reception deserves praise for his always smiling face, positive attitude, and helpful service. Now to the villa itself, simply magical. Tucked away from the crowded areas and surrounded by nature, it offered true privacy. Although the villas are side by side, the layout is carefully designed so each feels isolated and peaceful. The cleanliness was excellent, with daily housekeeping, coffee, tea, and water refills, and both the pool and bathroom were beautifully maintained. We were welcomed with a fruit basket and complimentary minibar snacks, which was a lovely touch. My only small disappointment was that Coca-Cola was listed among the complimentary items but was missing upon arrival. A quick note for future guests: you are surrounded by nature here. Despite the staff’s enormous efforts to maintain cleanliness and comfort, you may come across an insect or two in the outdoor areas. This honestly goes without saying when staying on a tropical island in a semi open pool villa. The food deserves its own paragraph. From breakfast to lunch and dinner, everything was divine. The hotel restaurant goes above and beyond in both taste and presentation. We tried local and international dishes alike and found them consistently outstanding. Their pizzas were superb, and the true winner on the menu was the Tom Kha Gai. The explosion of flavors was surreal, hitting every taste bud in perfect harmony. Beyond the food itself, the restaurant atmosphere deserves special praise. Beautifully designed, it created a peaceful and romantic setting that elevated every meal. If you choose to sit at the tables set within the pond, you are in for a truly unique experience. Dining while small fish gently nibble at your feet was unexpectedly ecstatic and added a playful, memorable touch to an already magical ambiance. One small warning: if you are not accustomed to spicy food, some of the Indian and Thai dishes containing red chili flakes can deliver quite a burning kick! The spa experience was another highlight of our stay. I tried the Balinese massage and it was amazing, a perfect combination of therapeutic stretching and relaxing oil massage. It felt both healing and deeply relaxing at the same time and is highly recommended for anyone staying at the property. Finally, the location. The peaceful and serene setting comes with a trade off, you cannot simply walk out into the busy center. It’s roughly a 15 minute walk to the main street where you’ll find convenience stores, restaurants, and traffic. However, this was never an issue for us because the hotel offers scooter rentals directly from their garage, with easy pickup and return. It costs slightly more than renting elsewhere, but honestly, the convenience made it worth it. One useful detail we only discovered later is that you can rent the scooter for half day use as well. This was not mentioned to us during our first rental, so we did not benefit from all the paid time. The second time, after asking, we learned about the half day option and ended up saving on unused hours. Just make sure you have an international driving license. Otherwise, taxis and transport options like Gojek and Grab are readily available. Overall, Hideaway Villas Uluwatu delivered a memorable and relaxing experience with outstanding hospitality, beautiful villas, and excellent food. I would happily stay again.
