I stayed at The Magani Hotel and Spa at the end of March 2026 in a Twin Deluxe Room overlooking the pool, returning as a customer because I was so amazed by the level of service, attention to detail, and the beautiful facilities. Every email and question I had was answered promptly. A day before departure, Ayu, the General Manager of Operations, messaged me via WhatsApp to help connect us with our airport transfer and also let me know they had a birthday surprise ready for Dwayne when we arrived. She also offered assistance with anything else we needed before arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. Finding our driver was easy, and upon check-in we received a warm welcome, along with a much-needed fragrant cold towel and a welcome drink (kiwi). We were welcomed into a refreshing, cool room, with a birthday cake waiting for Dwayne from the hotel. I can honestly say that collapsing into the cloud-like beds gives you the perfect night’s sleep you need after the tribulations of flying and airport chaos. I also noticed the power board in the room, which had multiple international plug options and four USB ports—so there’s no need to bring a converter or power bank; they have already thought of everything. At 6am, the hotel begins to come alive and the aroma of breakfast fills the air. There are all the Australian favourites, Indonesian favourites, and a large variety of juice blends, chocolate milk, and an eggs-your-way station. Tea and coffee orders are taken as soon as you arrive and brought to your table promptly. The staff know many of their Aussie guests need that first sip of coffee straight away—and trust me, you don’t wait. You can sit overlooking the street, watching the morning offerings, prayers, and the island waking up, which is such a peaceful experience. We booked into Visala Spa and added our complimentary 15 minutes onto our 1 hour and 30 minute massage. It began with being welcomed with an information sheet to communicate where you were feeling sore or needing relief, followed by a welcome drink, a fragrant cold towel, and a choice of four different oils. It’s the best way to start your holiday. They also have a cold plunge spa with jets and a sauna, complimentary for guests at any time—just call ahead to have the sauna heated or add it to your spa service. I also booked in to see the healer, tarot reader, and palm reader for a 45-minute session, and I walked away feeling much clearer about my journey and future. Tovan and the translator were gentle, kind-spirited, and I highly recommend Tovan at Visala for anyone looking for insight. Each day we walked to the beach—it’s so close to all the great shops. The security staff were amazing, always helping us flag down Grab drivers and asking how our day was when we returned, with genuine interest in what we had been up to. It felt like having a brother looking out for your wellbeing. The pool bar vibe changes throughout the day—from a chill, relaxing morning swim atmosphere to a more upbeat, beach club-style vibe in the afternoon. The playlist shifts, cocktails start flowing, and guests begin connecting over their love for Bali. The restaurant menu has a bit of everything, and every meal we had for lunch and dinner was 10/10. Add in a live band or a drag queen show, which I highly recommend to both hotel guests and visitors, and the vibe becomes infectious—you’ll be on your feet by the end of the night. The drag queens absolutely shine—each with their own theme, song, and personality, guaranteed to make you laugh. The 2-for-1 cocktails ensure you always have a drink in hand, with a free drink card with each order, making it around $6 AUD per cocktail from a list that suits everyone’s taste. Why not have that fourth and enjoy a dance? Even while video calling a friend back in Australia, the restaurant staff became my cameraman and offered to hold my phone to capture the electric atmosphere—something I’ll never forget. All of the reception staff—especially the lovely ladies—always said hello, even from afar, with a kind wave. I forgot all the staff names, but honestly, I think it’s best to call them “The Angels of The Magani,” guiding you through your stay in what feels like a heavenly place. You truly feel welcome and at home here. On our last evening, we upgraded to a Spa Deluxe Suite. The room was more than double the size, and the spa bath on the balcony helped us relax and prepare for our return to Australia, giving us one final solid night’s sleep. We are already planning our next return in December and will be booking a longer stay back at The Magani. This hotel truly embodies the meaning of “Magani”—a place of comfort, healing, and joy.
