This place is very private and quiet, considering its location (close to busy thoroughfare Jalan Uluwatu). The verdant parking area and reception are lovely and full of blooming vegetation. It has a lot of superficial beauty. However, it seems to be designed more as a wedding venue, with its sprawling lawns and wow-factor pool. I felt that guestrooms were almost an afterthought. They are small, cramped, and tucked away from the rest of the property. There is only one standard of room (with choice of two twins or a double bed) and even the upper rooms don't actually have decks... just the narrow walkway and nothing to look at except the opposite rooms! So don't hope you'll get some sort of upgrade. Believe the reviewer who says there was no window. There is a frosted glass pane on either side of the guest room front door, and that's it. No other natural light and of course nothing to look at. I can't believe this adheres to any sort of safety standard. The room is nicely decorated but the desk has the tiniest little ottoman to sit on; no way you'd sit there and work on your laptop for more than a minute. The bathroom is just one of those low class tiny rooms where the shower fixture sticks out of the tile wall and your sink and toilet will be soaked because there's no enclosure and certainly no room for one. Nicest thing about the room is in the back of the room: the extra utility sink with counter and some shelving, so you could possibly fit a microwave in there and have a kitchenette. If you brought one. There is no veranda or anything in front of the guest rooms, so there's none of that typical resort lifestyle where you can just hang right there outside your room and have a drink, read a book or your smartphone. You'd have to drag a chair all the way over from the pool or restaurant, but because there is no real threshold, you would also be out in the courtyard/hallway that the guestrooms all face. Too weird. So if you wanted to just hang out and have that read in your shorts like someone on holiday (!) you would have to trot 150 feet out to the pool area where there are no umbrellas (I even asked) and sit at a table under the shade of the trees or broil on a deck chair. One nice thing: The pool is big enough for diagonal laps if no one else is using it and there's the world's largest kiddie section at only a few inches deep which is kind of nice for young families. Nice showers and loos at one end of the pool. But there again, I think this was designed with events and weddings in mind. Lovely dining area and the menu offers Western or Indonesian breakfast. Look, this was a really welcoming, beautiful property, but I knew that I would not be able to hang out in or by the room for more than the time it takes to brush my teeth. If hanging out was not important to me, like if I was on a buying trip or business trip or going to the beach everyday, I might not need the room for much, but at this price point staying here makes no sense. So this room would work only if you had some important business right in this neighborhood and you had to rush out of your room every day.
