Had a great 4 days 3 nights at Ayodya Palace! The hotel and beach is beautiful. There's so many activities to do and a variety of food and drinks without leaving the resort. Booked an all-inclusive stay and highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing stay. The rooms are clean and the mini bar is replenished daily. Special thanks to Ms Andini who remembered how I like my latte during breakfast at the lounge, and for surprising my friend with a birthday cake during breakfast.

We travelled from New Zealand to Nusa Dua, Bali for 12 nights at the Ayodya Resort, staying in the Palace wing with an all-inclusive deal through Luxury Escapes. Our first trip to Indonesia, nine hours from Auckland. The experience was amazing and I have very little to say about the trip that is not positive. It was always planned as a go and relax holiday, not a cultural tour of Bali though we will go back and do that some time. The deal itself was for a room at the Palace including lounge access with the all-inclusive package adding lunch, afternoon tea, evening canapes and cocktails as well as unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks over the entire property. (breakfast is included without all-inclusive). We also had a day pass to the Canna beach club, which we did not use as there didn't seem a great advantage in going there to sit on the beach with a free cocktail when we could stay at the Ayodya with as many free cocktails as we wanted! On arrival we were upgraded to the Jepun room which was described as 'the honeymoon suite'. There is certainly more than one similar room. It was a different layout to the standard room, a little larger with a larger balcony overlooking the main pool. All dark wood with a real Balinese feel. Generous size bathroom with a large shower and full size bath, and twin sink vanity. Efficient air conditioning which was needed at times! For meals we had breakfast most days in the palace lounge where there was a range of a la carte options (mostly Western-style) and a buffet that included Indonesian options and a few items aimed at kids. The Palace wing does allow children but they were much less obtrusive than elsewhere on the property (one breakfast at the main waterfall restaurant gave a taste of where most families hang out). For lunch you could sit on a lounger on the dedicated palace lawn overlooking the beach and summon a waitperson via a button on the table and have it delivered, along with cold drinks any time. Or wander across to the beach grill for a range of tasty dishes including fresh grilled lobster done one of four ways, as often as you liked during your stay, all included. Other restaurants (there are seven in total I think) serve lunch and dinner. We did visit most places for dinner at some stage. Genji japanese was our favourite, delicious Japanese food. Ganesha is a slightly incongruous sports bar/Indian restaurant; the Indian food was delicious. The main 'Waterfall" restaurant has options of inside/aircondition or outside on the deck overlooking a large body of water with fountains and serves a la carte Indonesia food or an extensive buffet. The Palace lounge does not do dinner but you can have an order from the beach grill sent across and enjoy that overlooking the exclusive palace pool. We did not try Surfers Corner, overlooking the main pool and with a different menu that did look interesting, mainly western food. There is also the vegan deli which will delight that demographic for sure; we did not try the food there. Special mention to the Java hut up by the main reception where you get great coffee (if you are feeling undercaffeinated you can have a tasting paddle of eight shots of different Indonesian coffees with tasting notes provided). This is also a great place for a nightcap and not surprisingly if you enjoy an espresso martini this is the place; they also do the best pina colada on the property. We enjoyed an hour at Soora speakeasy bar which was part of the Luxury escapes deal; a great space which we enjoyed though the cocktails we tried risked bordering on exotic for the sake of it. The beach is beautiful and despite signs all along the beach saying not to I swam in the sea every day. There is scattered plastic on the beach and in the water which is tragic but better as I understand it than in other parts of Bali. There are several pools to choose from at the resort and they were clean and refreshing. Bikes are a bonus and it is 5-10 minutes along the beachfront path to Bali collection for some shopping; not street vendor style but got some good deals anyway (a day trip to Kuta took care of the rest of the shopping). The absolute highlight of the whole experience was the staff. Gentle, relaxed and warm people who consistenly went out of their way to serve the guests. Staff are plentiful so there is alway someone to help. I'd like to think they were extra attentive as we were careful to use Balinese greetings and say suksma (thank you) often. Thank you Luxury escapes (I checked current prices and we got an absolute deal, about half the current price), Ayodya and people we encountered for a fabulous holiday. We'll be back for sure.
