Ubad Retreat was a delightful place to stay in. It is a bit removed from the center of Ubud, so the nights are quiet and peaceful. 'Retreat' is an apt name. The property is a family-run affair, and the family members are cheerful and helpful. English is spoken, and in particular, the young nephew of the main manager is highly fluent. He drove us into Ubud on a few occasions, and was a delight to speak with. He also arranged drivers from the local village to bring us to attractions in the wider area--we loved the bird park!--and also to pick us up from the airport on our arrival. Our room had high, vaulted ceilings and a veranda that overlooked one of the two pools. Frangipani flowers sometimes dropped onto the pool deck or into the water, and I remember looking up at the stars past the silhouettes of banana and coconut leaves, and thinking, "I really am in Bali." That was when my city stress started to melt away. The food was good with a variety of options for breakfast (I loved the Balinese black rice pudding!). It will be a no-brainer for us to opt to stay here again when we next decide to visit Bali.

“Abolutely amazing”

Very cosy and relaxed. Friendly and laidback staff that did everything to help us during our short stay of 2 nights. Very helpful in a family like manor. We came as guest but left as friends. It gave us a sort of exclusive back packer feeling. We can really recommend this place!

What a great place to be. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are great and there are two pools. There is a shuttle to the center of Ubud four times a day. We can recommend this hotel to couplet, familys and backpackers.

A nice family run hotel. The grounds are well maintained, the rooms are CLEAN and the staff are friendly. If you are worried about cleanliness rest assured the rooms are clean, and smell very fresh upon arrival, linen included. Only Deluxe rooms come with mosquito nets, and there is a small gap in the door when it is locked/closed. However no mosquito bites and only the odd fly etc in room.. The hotel discourage Grab/Gojek pick up from the hotel, only drop off. Grab drivers will accept the job but ask you to walk down the road 100metres. The hotel do offer a shuttle service into Ubud town which drops you off at Coco Supermarket Ubud which is nice and central. Hotel shuttle schedule. (Car) Leaves at 9am,12pm ,3pm and 6pm. Return times are 15 mins after drop off. You can hear talking through rooms, especially the bathroom, and even the shower running in neighbouring rooms. Even at the back of the hotel you can hear the road, although the noise is minimal, sometimes it sounds like a car is outside, but mostly nothing heard. The rooms are very large, with big bathroom space. Restaurant food is overpriced in comparison for what you get in town / the quality of it. Frozen low quality burgers - very tough, like it was almost still frozen in places. Do not recommend having dinner. Fruit platter is a lot smaller to what was seen on pictures online, portion sizes may have been cut a lot.
