We had an amazing stay at Alila Manggis with our son and honestly loved everything about it. The resort is beautifully designed, and the peaceful surroundings make it the perfect place to slow down and completely relax. What really made our stay special was the service. Everyone was incredibly warm, caring and personal, and we genuinely felt looked after throughout our time there. The restaurant was also excellent, with a varied menu ranging from local Indonesian dishes to Western classics with a creative twist. Everything we tried was delicious. Alila Manggis is a very special place and one we would happily return to. Five stars without a doubt!

“Heaven at Alila”

Totally exquisite, we had the loveliest 4 days at Alila Manggis in Eastern Bali, like dying and going to heaven. Just a small resort set on the coast with a gorgeous pool overlooking the sea. The rooms are set in a coconut grove complete with lily ponds, old temple and frangipani raining down. The staff are so lovely and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. You can have cocktails in the pool bar before sumptuous Balinese dinners that won't break the bank. The hotel has lots of free activities on offer including shuttles to nearby villages and beaches. Theres such a sense of peace and calm here. Can't recommend it highly enough

3 of us were having girls trip early August and stayed for 3-4 nights. I took the opportunity to try the lower ground and upper floor and here are my observations: Lower ground: Fab exit to green grass and straight to pool. The terrace sitting is private with brick walls separated each room. Even though we face the swimming pool you really cannot see what's inside the room with glass reflection. Upper floor: Slight upscale amenities including coffee pod (which is not utilised during my stay) and gorgeous day bed facing the sea. The drawback is there is less privacy at balcony because its only separated by cloth (not visible) but you can hear next doors talking. At one point 2 rooms next to me was talking on phone for 1.5 hours in the balcony which disturb all the peacefulness. The property itself is stunning and has this relaxing vibe with superb staff. I reduced the star rating because there was construction facing the beach and it was damn noisey starting from 8.30 to 7.30 pm and we were lucky to have 1 day when they moved further up. This came as a surprise with no pre warning from the hotel prior to stay, and all the guests I spoke to have similar disatisfaction. I have been to other hotels where they pre warned in the hotel website snd given this hotel is much further awayfrom the main centre and the purpose is for relaxation, the excavators noise level are so disturbing all day long. Otherwise we will return in future when no more construction work.

There are lots of good things about this hotel; but first, an important WARNING. Whilst some of the reviews do reference beach construction work, there seem to be no photos of this and I had no idea it was going on before arrival (and in fact, the hotel took payment just before they mentioned it). During our 2 night stay in early August, there was significant (3 excavators and two trucks) construction work ongoing all day (not all night, and with a break for lunch) each day, on the beach directly next to the hotel. This was noisy and disrupted our enjoyment of the break. The beach adjoins the beautiful hotel gardens. The hotel has a bar just next to the “beach”. The pool area is set in the garden which also adjoins the beach. The beach is currently a lot of gravel, being moved around to form (I understand) a coastal walkway and some form of sea wall / protection to reduce beach loss. We are also extremely annoyed that we were not told anything about this prior to arrival. This seems to be a policy to avoid cancellations. My husband used to work for Tui and they would do the exact opposite, giving as much info as possible. I do realise the hotel does not control this work as it is being done by the government, but they sent me an email 2 days before arrival which looked forward to welcoming me to their “tranquil seaside retreat”. Tranquil it was not. For us, this was supposed to be 2 days of beach time as part of a longer trip. This is not the end of the world. However, as we pointed out to management, people could be spending their honeymoons, or other trips of a lifetime, with them, and it is not fair not to tell people of this. If I had known of the work, I would have cancelled and moved to a hotel nearer the airport. We had driven 2hrs to get to this hotel. Ok - now the better bits, and frankly everything else is good. 1) the hotel grounds themselves are lovely and well maintained. When the beach works is done and diggers are gone, I am sure it will be lovely, although note I don’t think this beach area is the best for swimming (big waves - hence the work). Worth checking if this is your intention. 2) our sea view room was very spacious and had an expansive terrace with a lovely view of the garden (and the diggers!). Day beds on the terrace. 3) food was good and reasonably priced for visitors (£10 for most main meals) 4) staff were all very friendly 5) there are quite a lot of trip options in the area. Given the beach work the hotel is running a free 45 min shuttle to “virgin beach”, a white sandy beach north of the hotel. They also have a shuttle to a local town and old style village, and paid snorkelling trips to blue lagoon, and many other trips to explore East Bali (where there is lots to do). We did not do these trips given these were our “beach days” and felt we had spent lots of time in cars. but would have done if staying longer. Instead, we opted for a dinner at nearby Amankila, which was very nice and actually a tranquil setting! We did raise the construction concerns with the hotel management, and they provided a small discount (amounting to 2.5% of our spend) on the final bill. We will be raising with Hyatt customer services when we return from the trip. I hope this review is helpful for others and avoids some disappointment.
