“Superb staff”

We had a frustrating end to our trip round Indonesia. Local agent made some silly mistakes. Staff at Sheraton were superb in helping us. A very special call out to Theo on Reception and Dhumantri from Concierge. In my opinion, both went well above and beyond.

We have just completed a fantastic first stay at Sheraton Bandara — and almost certainly not our last. Quite simply, it was one of the most enjoyable short-transit experiences we have had in a long time. In fact, we found ourselves repeatedly remarking on how surprising it was that a stay of barely 24 hours could leave such a lasting impression. For those considering the property, we will narrow our experience down to three observations that may be particularly helpful. (i) The setting. Let us be clear: this is not a new hotel. The property’s age is evident throughout, what makes Sheraton Bandara special, however, is not its age but its atmosphere. Moments away from one of Southeast Asia’s busiest airports, the hotel somehow manages to feel remarkably removed from the surrounding bustle. The combination of mature greenery, tranquil lakes, and expansive open spaces creates an environment that feels far more akin to a resort than an airport hotel. We particularly appreciated the breadth of recreational facilities. The large resort-style swimming pool, spa facilities, and generous outdoor spaces contribute to an experience that is increasingly rare in the airport-hotel segment. (ii) Bonvoy recognition. As Platinum member — admittedly on the lower end of Marriott Bonvoy’s elite tiers — we were genuinely impressed by the recognition extended throughout our stay. We were assigned a Presidential Suite, complete with a spacious balcony that significantly enhanced the comfort of our stay. The club-lounge alternative at &More also deserves special mention. The offering was thoughtful and generous, with refreshments available throughout the day and a surprisingly substantial three-course dinner included during our stay. (iii) Plane spotting. For aviation enthusiasts, Sheraton Bandara may well be one of the finest plane-spotting locations around Jakarta Airport. Watching aircraft movements from the comfort of our private balcony added an enjoyable and surprisingly therapeutic dimension to the stay. Interestingly, we have intentionally not spent much time discussing the service. Not because it was lacking, quite the opposite. Many reviews before ours have already praised the service culture at Sheraton Bandara, and we found those assessments entirely accurate. The level of hospitality was exactly as strong as others have described, and there is little we can add that has not already been said. If there are areas where the experience could be further refined, they are relatively minor. (i) The first relates to the airport shuttle operation. The experience was not quite as seamless as we had anticipated. Upon arrival, it took us close to an hour from reaching the pick-up point to finally arriving at the hotel. Our return journey to the airport required approximately forty minutes. We suspect this is largely an operational and scheduling matter rather than a capacity issue. (ii) The second observation concerns the physical condition of the property. Given the age of the hotel, some signs of wear and tear are naturally visible throughout. None were severe enough to detract meaningfully from our stay, though a more comprehensive maintenance review could further elevate the guest experience. We have shared specific observations with the team during check-out. Ultimately, what surprised us most was not the quality of the room, the upgrade, or even the facilities. It was how much we genuinely enjoyed being there. Very few airport hotels leave a lasting impression once the journey continues. Sheraton Bandara managed to do exactly that. In many ways, it feels less like an airport hotel and more like a destination in its own right — a place we would happily return to, even without a flight to catch.

“Excellent hotel near the airport”

Wonderful, luxurious hotel near the airport. Large, clean pool. Large, well equipped rooms with good amenities. Excellent customer service starting with the reception, Afdhal and Christina.
