I guess i am one of the lucky ones when it comes to room selection in this "basically rundowned" establishment. Especially after having booked a room without reading the reviews beforehand. From the moment I passed the main entrance into the Apartment, I can see that groundkeeping is not on their roster. The Parking: Parking areas are barren wastelands, and the basement parking seems like something from a horror movie. Chipped tiles... cracked floors... odd smell of sewage pipes and that eary sound that TL lights make when they blink eratically. No lift from basement, only via stairs which are in dire need of repairs. Climbing up the stairs is a challenge itself. The Lobby: Represents the whole mood of this building; slow death... The colors are gloomy... the smell of old carpet and aging wallpaper glue fits the bill real nice. Ample old smelly sofas await to cuddle you with their unique blend of 1000-people aroma. The Staff: I didnt speak to them in english so I cannot rate their fluency. They are friendly and helpful and if you posess that intimidating persona, you can definitely bend them to your will. Try It ! LoL.. The Surroundings: To get to the elevators, I had to walk across a gloomy hallway past several rooms with glass partitions/doors. You can definitely see that this building is on its way downhill. Old chairs and ruined tables give you a glimpse how cafe and restaurants do do well here (aka closed permanently). Near the elevator sits a security guard with a pleasant gesture that is full of meaning. To go up to the room, you need to use the magnetic keycard however to get into your room, you are given a normal doorkey. Very impractically and bothersome. The Room: Its sufficient from the basic need to rest. But the lighting is a bit dim despite the many lightbulbs that can be found. Its to do with the wallpaper, paint or coverings that are aged and have accumulated yellowish tint from God knows what. My room was on the 11th floor. Very quite. And the AC worked fine and during the wee early hours proved quite cold. The best thing about this room: the shower in the bathroom. The bathroom was clean, no leftover hairs clogging up the drainage and the soap and other amenities prove that housekeeping did their job. Towels are clean and the hot shower provided constant flow of water no matter how long you turn it on. Good Job here!! No sudden bursts of coldwater, just continuous supply of hotwater to help you unwind. Yes, please DO spend most of your time showering. The bed was ok but the cleanliness of the bedsheets could be improved. Other facilities such as furnishing and storage are quite ample especially for the single traveller. 2 complimentary bottles water is provided and the empty minibar is adequate to chill them within hours. TV channels are crystal-clear and the tv can be used for playing usb content. All is well in this department. So did I get a good nights sleep? YES The Breakfast: Very minimalistic assortment of foods to choose from. It'll get you past lunchtime no problem. But dont expect to be pampered here. Its the most basic of indo menus. The padded chairs do provide a much needed comfort to help you get past breakfast selection. And since it is semi outdoors, you can have your meal while watching people swim in the pool. The pool itself seems geared towards children so adults will struggle to swim in a meter or so deep pool. At best its simply waterplay. Overall, my goal to get a good nights rest and a warm shower was fulfilled. No frills accomodation that gets the job done. Its a functional hotel not a weekend retreat let alone a honeymoon getaway. Read the other reviews and see which style of reviewer best meets your expectations. I initially regretted booking before reading the reviews but was suprised to find how lucky I was to get a descent room despite how bad some reviews make it out to be. I stayed in room 1110. Maybe if you should decide to book this place, go for this number. Overall for this price you maybe able to get a newer establishment such as fave hotel chains but that all depends on your immediate requirements especially related to your geographical needs to reach places. My basic needs were fulfilled but my holiday dream getaway is certainly by far will not be this place. An IBIS chain hotel is across the busy street, you could also check that out as an alternative should you decide this area is a destination in your list of things to visit. Hope my fair review helps you out. This is a "serviced" apartment that is intended for unit owners wishing to make money from their investment. Individual standards of unit maintenance certainly proves this if you read all the bad reviews. Some owners couldn't care less about how their unit is taken care of by the hotel management whilsts others pay more attention. Hence the uneven level of cleanliness and condition of each units.
