I stayed at Amaris Malioboro (Jl. Pajeksan) on December 31st, right at the peak of the holiday season. Based on past experiences elsewhere, I’ve often seen hotels and restaurants struggle with high volumes during this time, leading to poor service. However, Amaris Malioboro was a breath of fresh air. Key Highlights: • Preparedness & Service: The staff were clearly well-trained for the holiday rush. They maintained high standards and went the extra mile to ensure a positive experience. Despite the crowd, the staff remained friendly, helpful, and attentive. • Seamless Logistics: For me, the most important part was the check-in and check-out process. It was smooth and efficient—no long, frustrating waits. • Superb Breakfast: The breakfast exceeded my expectations for this hotel tier. There was a wide variety of food, and staff members were always nearby if we needed any support. • Strategic Location: I chose this hotel specifically for its location on Jl. Pajeksan. Since my itinerary focused on the Malioboro area, we were able to reach most attractions on foot and completely avoid the heavy holiday traffic. Verdict: If you want a stress-free stay in the heart of Yogyakarta, even during the busiest season, I highly recommend this hotel. Their team knows how to handle a crowd without compromising on quality!

Booked for 2 rooms, we stayed here from 22-24 Dec 24, friendly hotel staff as we checked in, But one room the AC was not working well, at first night the AC is leaking, until we checked out, the ac problem was not solved. As for the room, it's nothing special, as a budget hotel should be. The breakfast was marvelous, a lot of varierties , the best part for thischotel is the food Location is strategic, very near to jalan Malioboro, good location

“Good hotel for short stay”

Went for family gathering with 6 of us and 2 nights stay is just fine. We miss Surabaya and the short stay feels so short we had to rush to Jakarta and rush to airport. Overall good bed and breakfast. Miss my aunt.

“Well meaning staff who willingly compensated for poor room condition”

My stay at this hotel started off badly. The safe was not working, and I could not get reception to respond for ages till I went and yelled. They showed me two other rooms but those had horrible marks on the outside of the toilet bowl so I could not bring myself to stay in these. A staff member als… more

My stay at this hotel started off badly. The safe was not working, and I could not get reception to respond for ages till I went and yelled. They showed me two other rooms but those had horrible marks on the outside of the toilet bowl so I could not bring myself to stay in these. A staff member also suggested I leave the next day which made me furious. Eventually they repaired the safe, it took less than 20 minutes. Also the towels I was given were frayed and stained. Eventually I was given decent towels afer refusing some torn and stained ones. One of the cups in the room had lipstick marks, clearly not washed, which they changed. I don't understand why there was so much delay in repairing the safe and giving towels in good condition. However, the staff was kind. I demanded a 50% refund which they gave me in cash without hesitation. I had left my face wash in the bathroom and they made the taxi driver wait for a couple of minutes and brought it down very fast. I was concerned about safety given the issues with the safe but my belongings were fine. They also offered me complimentary dinner and breakfast. The hotel has a great location but some structural shortcomings. The shower stall is not fully enclosed so some water falls on to the bathroom floor. Also the show stall has no wall holders at all for toiletries, they have to be balanced on the soap dispenser or put on the floor. The room did not have a luggage stand, even though there was enough space. They also don't provide hand soap/ gel at the wash basin, they said it was extra but did provide it to me for free. Also the bathroom is very worn out, with rusting around steel fittings.

The cleanliness of the toilet and sheets need to be reviewed. The room temperature (it can get very cold) matches the heat of Malioboro. The cleanliness of the toilet and sheets need to be reviewed. The room temperature (it can get very cold) matches the heat of Malioboro. Too bad I couldn't check out late because they said a group had come to check-in. Thank you, the hotel staff, for letting me leave my large luggage. The location is quite strategic near Pasar Beringharjo and Teras Malioboro 1 & 2.
