I was a little hesitant about this place traveling on a narrow dirt road but once we arrived we were amazed and shocked by how beautiful the resort was. We stayed in Villa Agung and the views were phenomenal. There is no air conditioning which was the only disadvantage with this resort but they did have a portable a/c that gave some cool air if you sat in front of it. The ocean views were beautiful and we had Mt Agung views in the back. Unfortunately, my husband became very sick and we mostly hung out in the villa but luckily there were 2 bathrooms. We ordered meals from the resort and wished we could have taken advantage of their variety of choices. The staff was very accommodating and very empathetic towards my husband, they even offered ginger tea. I developed a very bad sunburn at the end of our stay and the staff kept bringing me aloe vera. We did the onsite cooking class which was very informative and enjoyed the fruits of our labor for dinner. I did enjoy the daily massages, I just wish the tables under the main lobby were more private. I could have had the massage in our villa but it was too hot. We didn't know it at the time but being sick allowed us to relax, be with each other and enjoy the views.

I can only describe Villa Campuhan as a bit of heaven on earth! Comprised of six Balinese-style bungalows over a large, seaside compound, it's an ideal place to get away from the tourists and traffic jams that you might encounter elsewhere on the island. The bungalows are spacious, clean, comfortable, and very well spread out from others. There's no beach (only rocks) but the crashing surf is a relaxing, ever-present part of the experience. Meals are served in a separate, open-air building or on your bungalow's expansive porch. Over our three nights, we enjoyed breakfast in the dining hall and opted for lunches and dinners on our porch. If there's a potential negative, please know that you are quite a bit away from any local restaurants or stores. But, with that said, you can order lunches, dinners, and drinks the night before to enable the staff to shop for fresh ingredients at a local market. And while you could be wary of being a captive customer, please know that the food and beverages were as a rule excellent and prices quite reasonable. We arranged for a body massage and foot massage one morning and enjoyed both a few hours later on our porch that afternoon. We also called on the Villa's driver/guide Dewa for a day of sightseeing and can report he did an excellent job in showing us the sights of east Bali. A great big "terima kasih" to the entire staff who were very friendly and professional. Special thanks, too, to managers Roma and Ketut for their help in making our three-night stay at Villa Campuhan the unquestioned highlight of our eight-night visit to Bali.

This is my favorite place on Bali. From the moment you enter the grounds it is as if you are in another world. The road to get there is off the beaten track, one lane and only room for one small vehicle. But one it opens up to the property, it’s amazing! The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks immediately brings a peacefulness. No traffic sounds or noise. Just nature. We were greeted and taken to our lovely villa. The villas are spotless and perfectly appointed. We had a bowl of fruit and a lovely welcome juice ready for us. Ketut and the staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. We decided on a massage. That takes place in a lovely outdoor setting where you can relax to the sound of the waves. Perfection! Our fresh meals were prepared and could be served in the lounge house or in our villa. They were made to order. The ingredients were shopped that morning at the local market and perfectly prepared for us. We laid by the pool, read books in our open air villa looking over the pond, walked the property and enjoyed the natural landscaping, and relaxed. I don’t say this lightly, but Villa Campuhan is like a paradise. If you find yourself in Bali, it is worth the drive to get to this incredible spot!

“Perfection!”

Perfection! We came for a much needed rest and found paradise. Loved the attention to detail, food and friendly staff. Each individual Villa is like being in a tree house. Authentic Bali and just gorgeous. We will definitely be back
