I would like to thank the Maldron Hotel Shandon Cork City for a FANTASTIC stay at your amazing hotel for St Patrick’s weekend & to celebrate my sisters birthday 🍀 On behalf of myself, my sisters & friends we travelled with, I would like to say a very special thanks to Maria for her hospitality, patience and for making us feel so welcome at the hotel and went over and above for us every time! From organsing us taxis, taking our group photos etc… Nothing was a bother to her and she is an asset to the Maldron Hotel with her kindness, her wit and good craic! Maria you made our stay 🍀 We will be sure to return to stay at the Maldron the next time we visit Cork City 🍀🇮🇪 Till the next time Katie & the Scottish Ghirls 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

“Blond waitress”

I had a wonderful stay here Thursday night. The receptionist was very welcoming and booked my table in the bar/restaurant. My room was amazing although one problem with the volume on the tv(there was no volume) thank god for the maintenance man who fixed the problem. When I went to the bar/restaurant I waited at the bar for assistance and got nothing until I asked. I was told by the super visor or maybe she was the manager to pick any table. I was sitting over 5 mins when I had to ask the bartender for a menu. The same supervisor or manager said her goodbyes to a group at the next table. It took 17 mins before I put in my order because I stopped the blond waitress. I wish I got her name. Before my stay I requested a 1pm check out which I paid for and I had people knocking on my door at 12. The girls on reception were fabulous and the waitress with the blond hair was fabulous as well

“Very disappointing, never again.”

So disappointed in the Hotel, after checking the pictures on TripAdvisor and the reviews we thought this would be a lovely place to stay for a few days, as this was our first visit to Cork, plus it stated that it was a 4* Hotel, which I can honestly say it was not. I have stayed in better Travel Inns that were cleaner and more comfortable than this Hotel. On arrival we were given a room that the window faced a brick wall, it was a very dark room, I did not go all the way to Cork to look at a wall, so we asked if we could be moved, we were given a room overlooking the front of the hotel, which was fine. Waste bins were not emptied in our room, cups not washed out, and I had to remake the bed, as it was not made properly, pillows looked like they had just been thrown on the bed, and bottom sheet still crumpled, still looked like we had just got out of bed, I would not mind but we were out all day from early morning, so they had plenty of time to clean the room properly. The room was cold, apparently the heating is controlled from reception, we mentioned this and it was put on for a couple of hours on our first day, and that was it, no more. When we went down to breakfast on our first full day, all the tables had been used, there was not a clean table anywhere, so we had to clear all the breakfast things ourselves of a table so we could sit down, then when a staff member eventually arrived we had to ask for cups and napkins etc.. The grain and grill restaurant was attached to the bar area, not very stimulating, and the menu was not that big with not a lot of choice, so we had no alternative but to eat out. I would like to mention that just down the road from the front of the Hotel, you can see prostitutes loitering outside a place called Maureen's. To be honest it's not a nice area to stay, and would stay on the other side of the river next time. We were told by some locals that this is the rough part of Cork, just wish we were told that before. On a positive note, the staff were lovely and friendly and helpful.

“Hit and Miss”

Reception staff are very nice, as are the bar staff. There are oddities about the place - my room was left pried open one day when I arrived back after 5PM for example so I wouldn't leave anything valuable in the rooms but I guess that's true of most places. Good location.
