I had the pleasure of staying in No 7 in Galway for the last two nights and would highly recommend. From the location in middle of everything to the most comfortable, spotlessly clean room to the very substantial breakfast and the very warm, kind welcome from Hazel and Scott. I felt very much at home and so very well looked after. I will definitely be back and highly recommend. 🫶🤗

“Perfect place to stay in the Latin Quarter as long as you are ok with small rooms”

Outstanding location for excellent restaurants nearby and lots of trad music. Rooms are small but decor is modern kitchy and very clean. Staff is wonderful and the buffet breakfast very good

We stayed here for 2 nights over a busy weekend. Hotel is situated in the heart Galway, in the buzz of the city. Now, the hotel is over 700 years old, so the rooms are very... Boutique, quaint and cosy. (W B Yeates - Room 7) The room itself was very small. I didn't have a bedside table, the bed was pushed right to the wall and I swear the floor was on a slight angle/lean. We had a TV fixed to the wall which worked fine and a surprisingly spacious and clean bathroom / shower room. The room was clean but small and cosy. I wish we could have had a small table with a kettle and tea/coffee facilities as I really missed a bedtime and morning brew! My in-laws were in a room next to us (Shakespeare) and they did have brew making facilities and a slightly larger room. So I guess it's pot luck which room you get. Bed and pillows comfy. Towels changed daily, mini toiletries a nice touch. The shower wasn't great. I think the thermostat was broken so the shower was extremely hot. So hot I couldn't really stand under it, I had to have a strip wash whilst standing in the cubicle. My in-laws mentioned that their shower was a good temperature but it didn't have much power, whereas ours had good power, it was just scolding hot!! So, again, I guess it's room dependent. Breakfast was included. A continental selection and what a selection there was! Cereals, cheese, meats, toast, fruit... A very good choice. It did the job, it filled a very hungry hole and staff were attentive. Throughout our stay, all staff we encountered were polite, helpful and friendly. Now, the noise. A lot of reviews on here comment on the noise from the street outside... As it was a very busy Friday and Saturday night, with a busy pub across the road, there was a lot of noise. On check-in we were told about this and the hotel provided ear plugs. The windows have extra doors to minimise the sound, although you can still hear the buzz and carry on until the early hours. I didn't really find this a problem personally, as I sleep through anything, it was also very bright from the street lights and the pub lights. Again, no problem for me but could be for others. If staying for longer than a night or two I could see it being an issue. Also, it was the weekend and Galway is a hub for stag/hens/ night outs.. so it was extra noisy I imagine over the weekend! The city does have a great nightlife buzz to it!! There is an AC unit in the room, so you wouldn't need to keep the window open in the summer if it was hot. As I imagine the rooms get very stuffy and hot in the middle of summer!! The only noise problem I encountered, was that there was another guest shouting/arguing and slamming his bedroom door in the middle of the night. Sometime between 12-3am. It felt like he was trying to get into our room (it's an old building and you can hear people opening doors, coughing or chatting when it's quiet). Although this wasn't the fault of the hotel, it certainly meant the first night I had a terrible night's sleep. The second night was much better and I slept through relatively well without the need for ear plugs. Unfortunately, this other customer did spoil it for me. He must have moved on as I didn't hear anything the second night. I perhaps should have notified a member of staff in the night but I'm unsure if the reception is manned 24hrs as when we came to leave (early hours of Sunday morning), we couldn't find a staff member to check-out. Overall, we had a pleasant, clean and comfortable stay. I would perhaps next time stay at a larger chain hotel with bigger rooms, a proper cooked breakfast and a little out of the city. This hotel is a prime location to be in the middle of the buzz and city, as long as you don't mind the noise and the small boutique style rooms. Please be aware the ceilings are low and there are lots of stairs due to the nature and style of the building.
