We are just back from a two night stay to celebrate our Mother's 80th birthday and from initial booking to checking out today, the staff were just amazing. The little touches and ability of staff to do their jobs with a smile and kindness made our stay very special.

I stayed one night at the Midland Park Hotel in Portlaoise. It was a planned short break, arriving on Saturday 14th March 26 and checking out Sunday 15th March 26 My experience was superb, from the friendly staff to the facilities in the hotel, it was above what I expected The hotel uses the public parking garage beside the hotel and if you are a guest, it's complimentary. When I checked in, I was asked to enter my car registration number on something similar to an i-pad, the car park uses number recognition and on leaving, the barrier rose and out I drove ... it was simple, I assume its the same no matter how long you are at the hotel Our room ( Room 332 ) was quite big with a comfortable bed. There was tea / coffee making facilities with lots of coffee / tea unlike some hotels that scrimp on the sachets. A large glass jug was provided, which enabled me to fill it with fresh cool water from a dispenser located beside the lefts .. a nice touch. Also in the room tucked away in a cupboard was the room safe and a large fan ... I just loved this, as most hotels do not supply fans and it was really appreciated. Our package also included a bottle of prosecco We had requested a "Quiet room" and ours was perfect One very small issue with the room was the fact that we had no plugs on the top of the bedside tables, the plugs were at ground level under the bedside tables .. and awkward to get at We had reserved a table for dinner the evening we arrived, and it was just as well, as the restaurant was extremely busy. Our orders for food & drink were taken by friendly staff. When it arrived it was really good and of excellent quality, however one downside was it took a while to be served, but the taste and quality made up for the short delay. I started off with the crumbed Portobello Mushroom followed by an absolutely excellent Roast top rib of Irish beef Breakfast on the morning we checked out was really good with a plentiful choice of cereals / breads / pastries ... fruits and cold meats etc You order your cooked breakfast at your table and the server brings it to you, everything else is available but you get it yourself, including tea / coffee If I may make a suggestion to management .... having guests walking up and down with cups of very hot tea / coffee or water is problematic. When we stayed, there were lots of children moving around and I was surprised that none had a hot beverage spilt over them, as they ran around Over all a superb stay Would I stay again ..... in a heartbeat
