“Great Family Hotel”

Some parts still undergoing renovations. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Great for families. Great breakfast. Not great parking, but you can usually find on the street. Really nice pool and this is an excellent place for families.

The hotel is located in Tiberias, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. The building has 14 floors, plus a swimming pool downstairs. The rooms seem medium in size. The hotel is located in Tiberias, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. The building has 14 floors, plus a swimming pool downstairs. The rooms seem medium in size. On the good side: The view is spectacular. From the rooms you have a view from above of almost all the Sea of Galilee plus parts of Tiberias. The swimming pool is large and open from 10am to 6pm. The restaurant near the lobby serves a very rich breakfast buffet (and even richer dinner buffet is included if purchased), and we found some of the dishes rather good - all with excellent service. The rooms have a bath with a shower, a small fridge that is quiet, and air conditioning (a necessity in this area during the summer). If you stay on Saturday, you can check-out much later than usual (that's common to many hotels in Israel). On the bad side: There is free parking (outside) as advertised, but the number of rooms greatly exceeds the number of parking spaces, so there's a good chance you end up looking for parking in the area. It's a residential area, so there's nothing to see or buy within walking distance. The elevators are always busy. If you stay on the top half of the building then there are 2 elevators, and furthermore - one of them is practically not working during Friday evening and Saturday, for religious reasons. Thus, we typically found ourselves standing in line in front of them. The rooms have old-fashioned keys with old thin doors and the whole thing looks like sort of "need refurbishing". I must say our room was also somewhat smelly. Also, the sofa looked old and was stained. The double bed turned out to actually be two small adjacent beds, with one of the top lights not working. To complete the picture, the air conditioner was rather noisy and made a loud "boom" occasionally. Even though the food in the restaurant was mostly good, we found that most of the electrical equipment (toasters, coffee machines etc.) was out of service during Saturday. I guess it's also for religious reasons, but I was more interested in the results than the reasons - not being able to provide my granddaughter with things she expected.
