“Best kept secret - lovely place!”

We stayed at Bucaneve for 4 nights in July 09. We enjoyed our stay very much, the hotel is located in a lovely area of Pescasseroli, just out of the main town and with beautiful mountain views. The hotel is quite small but do not let this put you off, it is very clean, homely but professional too - excellent service (even helping us out with the language barrier - they speak very little english and us very little italian but it wasn't a problem) and a lovely outdoor swimming pool. Breakfast was a simple croissant (as is traditional in italy) and yoghurt, fruit and cereal if you wanted it (you had to ask as it wasn't buffet style), The evening meals were extremely good, always brushetta and three courses with traditional italian home cooking. Lots of choice of pasta, meat and yummy desserts! And wine pretty cheap. The only slightly negative point is the service in the restaurant - it was too prompt!! You would still have the last mouthful of food in your mouth as the plate was whipped from under you - now I am not sure if the this is normal swift service for italy, but personally I would have preferred for both of us to have finished eating before my plate was taken whilst hubby is still eating! Also if you want to use the pool, take your own pool towels as we were a little surprised to be charged 5 euros each for the use of their swim towels! Before we stayed there, we could find very little information so didn't have any previous reviews to go on, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Its a very well kept secret that deserves to be shared! Lovely food, place, surroundings and the ONLY two minor negative points are very trivial! Although we stayed in summer, would also be perfect for winter skiing.

“Nice stop for a family visit”

Very high quality for a reasonable price. The hotel was within reasonable walking and close biking distance of the town. It was quite clean and well kept both in the rooms and in the common areas. Very high quality for a reasonable price. The hotel was within reasonable walking and close biking distance of the town. It was quite clean and well kept both in the rooms and in the common areas. Breakfast and dinner, included in the price, were generous and of good quality. The pool was very well maintained. The staff were quite friendly. The rooms were a bit snug for a family of four, but not unreasonably so, and this wasn't a bother since we (like everyone, I imagine) were there for the pleasure of being outdoors and exploring. A nice stay!
