My wife and I had a delightful stay at **Hotel Plan de Gralba das Berghotel** in late February/early March 2026. There are so many wonderful things to say about this property, but here are the primary highlights: [ROOM 211] Our room was spacious, quiet, impeccably clean, and recently renovated. It faced west, offering a great view toward the Piz Sella lift. [RESTAURANT] The restaurant, like the rest of the hotel, is beautifully decorated. We loved that guests are assigned a dedicated table for the duration of their stay. The staff is attentive and friendly, even keeping notes on personal preferences like how we take our coffee or our favorite beverages. Breakfast: The buffet offers a wide variety of breads, cold cuts, hot options (eggs, beans, bacon, sausages), and both savory and sweet croissants. A standout feature is the juice machine and orange press for fresh DIY juices. Thoughtful touches like a fresh honeycomb, local jams, and a variety of seeds for yogurt really elevated the experience. Dinner: We highly recommend the **half-board option**. The menu changes nightly, starting with a staple salad buffet and fresh bread followed by a creative 3- or 4-course meal. Most nights offer at least two choices for the main courses. The dishes were delicious—often creative and unexpected. Highlights included a dedicated cheese-tasting night and a traditional Italian-themed evening accompanied by classic Italian music. The overall soundtrack and volume throughout the hotel were consistently pleasant. [SPA] Undoubtedly one of the hotel's best features. It includes Finnish and steam saunas, a hot tub, a cold plunge, and a relaxing lounge area. The space is tidy, stylish, and well-stocked with snacks (dried fruit, tea, and water); they even served freshly made popsicles one afternoon! Note on Etiquette: The saunas are textile-free (nude). If you’re unfamiliar with German/Austrian/Finnish sauna culture, I recommend reading up on the etiquette beforehand. While many guests wear swimwear in the hot tub and cold plunge, the entire spa is technically textile-free, so expect to see nude guests in those areas as well. It’s a wonderful experience—just do yourself a favor and leave your phone in your room! [LOCKERS] A very convenient touch: each room has a dedicated ski locker equipped with dryers for boots, helmets, and gloves. Having stayed at hotels in Canada with less accessible locker setups, we found this system exceptionally well-designed. [CIGAR ROOM] As non-smokers, this was the only area for improvement. The room isn't perfectly sealed, allowing smoke to drift into the game room and the adjacent elevator. We played cards one evening and our clothes ended up smelling strongly of tobacco. [STAFF] The team is friendly, attentive, and helpful—we can’t say enough good things about them. Special shout-outs to Angela at reception and Yulieth in the restaurant for their exceptional service.

The family-run Hotel Plan De Gralba is a superb location to spend a skiing vacation in the beautiful Dolomites region of Northern Italy. It is a truly ski-in ski-out accommodation right on the famous Sella Ronda ski circuit. The hotel presents delightfully and is very well run by its owners, Mr and Mrs Runggaldier Peer. My wife and I had a lovely, large, newly-renovated room facing the home run, and my son had a smaller room, soon to be renovated, just down the corridor. Everything was very clean, and the rooms were serviced every day. Breakfast and dinner were included. Breakfast was very well presented and included a huge selection of high-quality produce. At dinner, the food was akin to nightly fine dining, eclectic, hugely varied and delicious. Every course was presented exquisitely. There is a massive wine cellar, and the wine list was extraordinary. One evening, we were treated to a fascinating cheese-tasting session with the owner, which featured a massive selection of varied cheeses. The wait staff were fabulous. The hotel also has a bar, a reading room, a pool table room and a spa. On top of all this, there is a ski rental shop in the same building, which makes renting equipment highly convenient. There are several other non-skiing activities one can participate in, although the downhill skiing was more than enough for us. The picturesque towns of Selva di Gardena and Ortisei are a short car ride away, and we took a worthwhile time off to visit them to shop and sightsee. We had 9 nights at the hotel in early February. This was the best skiing vacation we have had in many years of skiing on multiple continents. We look forward greatly to returning.
