My daughter and I stayed this February and had the loveliest of visits. First and foremost- the staff were ALL absolutely amazing! They could not have been kinder or more caring. I damaged a knee on the first day and my daughter was poorly for two days, but throughout our stay, all the staff showed concern and respect of the utmost level. We had a lovely room looking over the village at the back - the view was fantastic! Some of the main dinner options were delicious - others were a little bland, but the buffet selection was very varied. We discovered it was best to get down early if you wanted a plain croissant as these went quickly and it might have been nice to have had boiled eggs once or twice instead of scrambled every morning! Despite these minor observations, I have to return to the primary and over arching impression which was led by the staff - they are all fantastic! Thank you Hotel Sauze! :))

“Superbly Situated Sauze Ski Hotel”

Really nice hotel in a perfect location. Small and traditional in alpine style offering honest accommodation and hospitality. Its the location that sells this hotel. Its 4 mins walk to Clotes lift and 8-10 mins to Sportina lift and just at the top of the town and minutes from bars and restaurants. Heated boot room and separate ski storage. Decent bedroom, slightly small bathroom but functional and good shower pressure and temperature. Rooms cleaned daily, towels changed once in the week. Some noise from other rooms but nothing excessive and not during the actual night it seemed. Excellent breakfast, plentiful options including yoghurts, pastries and some cooked items. Juice and coffee and more than enough to fuel up for a day on the slopes. Dinner also good with plentiful salad / buffet then 3 courses (selected the day before). All food nice, well cooked and I enjoyed it. No dinner drinks included in half board but lots of wine options and drinks available from the bar. (No personal drinks allowed at dinner). Great staff in the dining area, bar and reception. Friendly and hard working and always with a smile on their faces. We stayed 15 – 22 March. Snow was good up higher but the last run back in to town at the end of the day was slushy in the town. Better at Sportina than Clotes and nothing to do with the hotel so not reflected in score. I really liked this hotel. Its simple and honest but great value for money. If that’s what you’re looking for then I’d highly recommend this hotel. Its simple, no frills but its comfortable and welcoming and in a great location for access to a really good and expansive ski area. It’s a 3* hotel but I’d give it a 4* rating as it delivers great service. It lacks some of the refinement and extras of a higher rated hotel but that’s reflected in its price and rating. I would happily return if looking to come back to the area.

The location of the hotel is great, close to the Clotes lift and the bus stop for the Sportinia lift was a few steps away at the end of the road, the bus journey only took a couple of minutes. It is also only a short walk down into Sauze for shops and bars. The hotel staff were always friendly, smiling and welcoming - they worked hard to make our stay comfortable. The hotel decor was alpine - it felt traditional and cosy and was always nice and warm. The bar area and dining room were pleasant places to eat and drink in. We found the food to be mostly excellent and there was plenty of it. Breakfast had a wide range of options and did not run out, everything was replenished. An option of fresh bread would have been nice rather than sliced bread for toasting but there were lots of pastry options. Dinner was a salad buffet starter which was exceptionally good. This was followed by a further three courses with choice - pasta or soup, main options of meat or fish and veg or potatoes. There was always a vegetarian option. There were usually two dessert choices. A cheese platter was part of the salad buffet so a cheese course could also be taken if desired. Our room was spacious with a double bed and additional single bed. There were two separate patio doors which opened onto a shared balcony area overlooking the old town and mountains. Beds and linen were comfortable and there was adequate storage and plenty of shelving. The bathroom was on the smaller side and the shower was a little dated. Plenty of hot water although the water pressure was a bit weak - it was adequate, but certainly not powerful. The room and bathroom were spotless, cleaned everyday and towels changed once during the week. The boot room and separate ski storage room were good. There were boot warmers which was very nice. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for a cosy, comfortable and welcoming hotel which i felt offered good value.

Stayed with friends 9 of us in total, rooms are a little small, our room had an open single wardrobe, not big enough for 2 people's clothes, the shower room was large, but the towels were not changed all week. Staff are amazing, both serving in the restaurant and bar area. The food, breakfast, was very good, plenty of choice, as for the evening meal, plenty of salad selection, soups could do with a bit of seasoning and better flavour (bland), mains were small portions and usually came with cold potato wedges, most nights there was pasta as a choice for mains, could do with a better thought-out menu, mains were mostly lukwarm, meat skier was 2 bits of pork belly and 3 bits of saussage !!!! If you didn't eat the salad, you would go hungry. A few of our group only ate half the mains as they were not very appetizing. We didn't see the so-called chef until our last morning before we left at 6 am. He looked so scruffy, untidy, possibly not the cleanest looking, not sure of his standards, but not a high-quality chef, more like a backstreet cook. Other than that, the other staff were great, the hotel location was great, close to the lift, but a bit of a hike up hill from downtown. To sum up, you get what you pay for, cheap and friendly
