We have spent two nights in this hotel and we found ourselves comfortable and in the room we were given. The view of the mountains and the forest was amazing. We travelled with the motorbike and we were at ease with the safe parking in their garage. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is for sure one to remember. I highly recommended to everyone.

We had a very nice stay at the Hotel Castel Pietra in Primiero this past Oct. 25-27, our third stop in a loop through the Dolomites and a quality last stop before heading south to Venice. Located in what appears to be a largely residential neighborhood, this is a very subdued and classy hotel, with an attentive and polished staff (I've never seen such good posture!) manning the concierge desk, the morning breakfast area, the bar and the restaurant. Our room was modest in size but comfortable, with a separate pull-out sofa/bed that was useful as a lounge/staging area. We had a nice balcony with a view of the nearby town environs and mountains surrounding the valley. Only drawback to the whole experience was other guests smoking on their balconies, including the adjacent one right next door, and one right down below, Their cigarette smoke regularly wafted into our room. The hotel insists you cannot smoke in the rooms, but smoking on the balconies pretty much negates that whole idea. I'd suggest the hotel really cracks down on that and insists its customers go outside, away from the hotel balconies, to smoke. That was really the only drawback. Everything else in this beautiful hotel is pure quality and we very much recommend it. It is within easy walking distance of the charming downtown, and a supermarket (a COOP) is about a 5 minutes walk away. And the beautiful Val Canali nature park is a 5 minute drive up the road, super easy, and a bountiful place to spend the day hiking and enjoying the gorgeous scenery.

This hotel has several things going for it: the location is convenient, the hall area is nice, breakfast is good, staff are almost all very friendly (the exception being just one person at reception). The place is also in my heart because it used to have my favourite restaurant in the area, La Pajara, with so many good memories of great dishes (at the moment it is sadly closed, and who knows whether it will reopen). However, I am sorry to say that the level of comfort I experienced does not tally with its rating. First, there was no proper shower in my "superior" room, only a shower head attached to the bathtub. Worse, I could not stand in the bathtub because of the low sloping ceiling, with large beams. I am tall, but I could not stand by a long margin, so I guess also a less tall person will face the choice between a full bath whenever a shower is desired, or a crouching shower. Second, while they are not obliged to do so, there is a reason why 99% of 4* hotels where I've stayed provide a kettle, a couple of china cups with a tea spoon, and some tea bags. Here there is none of that. The first night, I asked at reception whether it was possible to have a kettle in the room. The answer was that no, it wasn't possible, and that I could heat my water in the microwave on the ground floor (my room was on the third floor, not very convenient especially early in the morning...). The following morning, undeterred, I tried again. A different member of staff said with a big smile "of course you can have a kettle". Good! Still, only paper cups and no spoons - I was happy to buy my own tea bags, but it seems such a small courtesy for a hotel to provide them, especially on arrival, that I fail to understand why they do not do it here, like everywhere else. Finally, there was a small balcony with my type of room. It offers a lovely view, but no privacy at all. No screen or even some plants between neighbouring balconies. Neighbours can see straight in your room from their balconies, so you have to shut the curtains for privacy. I would have been happy to report this opinion in person at reception had the person who checked us out had the courtesy of asking "how was your stay?", or simply showed a modicum of interest. But she didn't. --

We spent with my family one week in Castel Pietra Hotel in January 2024. Rooms are quite old (please think about some renovation to standard 4**** hotel absolutely now it's not a such a standard without a lot of think which should be on the equipment of the room in a four-star hotel (kettle, cups, coffee, tea, hand soap, glasses). Mess at dinner service speaks poor English. Too little choice of food at dinner and breakfast.
