As we walked up to this hotel, I was a bit nervous. It’s in an old greek area of the city. The roads, if I can call them that, are very rough and narrow. The walls are covered by graffiti. The area looks run down, but! As soon as you walk through the doors, the place is immaculate. Its clearly old, but it is very nice. Its clearly been renovated, likely many times.

The staff is helpful and friendly. The included breakfast was always good. Bed was very comfortable. It even has good air-conditioning. What more could I want? Well, I’d like a good location and this place delivered. Everything I had planned to see was in walking distance. There are multiple good choices for eating. Its just a very nice place. I recommend it!

Rosanna who was one of the servers at breakfast who made me give this hotel a higher rating. She was attentive and remembered our coffee order each morning. Breakfast was good with a nice selection. The salon where they do breakfast and drinks, is breathtaking and really why you would choose this hotel. They offered daily food that was traditional to the region. The shower doors for our room were annoying because they frequently leaked water on the floor. The WiFi was inconsistent. The room was spacious and when we chose housekeeping they were attentive. The graffiti that surrounded this area upon arriving is shocking but we felt safe. Especially in comparison to other parts of Naples. AC was strong and service at the front desk depended on who was most in a good mood. Regardless, everyone helped.

Decumani is located in an old part of Naples. We had one night in Naples and wanted to be in the old city to be able to easily walk around and to be convenient to the airport. It was a bit hard to find and on a tiny street, and our driver wasn’t able to drive there because of the size of his car, so we ended up walking a couple of blocks with our luggage. The hotel is historic and is convenient to neighborhood restaurants. Our room was small but adequate. The shower was perhaps the smallest ever, but served the purpose. Special shout out to Gianfranco, who works at the desk; he was lovely, very friendly, and gave us a great recommendation for dinner.

The hotel is charming and beautiful, full of character and in a perfect location for local restaurants, bars and shops. The breakfast is lovely with plenty on offer and something for everyone. You are less than 10 minutes walk from the nearest Metro station. Rooms are a good size and very clean. I just have a few niggles though. Our room was set on 2 floors which we were not expecting (bedroom & bathroom on mezzanine level) I’m not good with heights and felt nervous as stairs were steep and made of stone. On arrival the room was very hot and we couldn’t get the air conditioner to work, staff member came to help and said it wouldn’t work unless we kept the windows closed, no mention of this in the instructions. As I get very hot at night I asked for a spare cotton sheet and was offered a wool blanket! Was told that no sheets were available and spent my 5 nights at the hotel sleeping under the decorative bedspread. The plug sockets on the lower floor had a mind of their own and often wouldn’t work, and the mini bar wasn’t refilled every day with cold water. I asked for an iron and ironing board on two separate days and was never given one. At breakfast on the first 2 mornings we were offered coffees but not on the following mornings so had to get coffee from a self serve canister which was empty a lot of the time. Despite this the staff members were friendly and the chap manning the bar was great.
