My visit was in early May. I had been up for nearly 36 hours driving through drizzling rain. Eventually near dusk I had started dreaming about those crisp white sheets you find only in Italian hotels. Had resolved to keep going when I turned down a small street and saw the small sign on the wall. I quickly pulled over to an easy parking spot just across the street and went in. There was the lovely hostess working at her computer. Initally I only asked if there was a room for one night. She said yes. I asked about a price and thought she said "cento" (100). I would have paid it at that point. When I found it was "cinquanta" (E50) I breathed a huge sigh of gratitude to the gods of my meager bank account. She carried my bags up the stairs to my room and steadfastly refused any help. My room was lovely and oh so clean and fresh. The sheets were all I had dreamed about. The bathroom and small shower were an oasis of new fixtures, hot water, and white towels. I collapsed and fell asleep and never woke up until the roosters were crowing. The next day I toured Paestum and even tho I'd been there several times in the past, this was the best ever. Green grass, wildflowers, fresh air, no tour buses to speak of, exactly the opposite of September. Highly recommend this hotel and their lovely hospitality!

What a wonderful hotel! We had a reservation at another place in town (an AirBnB) but they had to cancel because their boiler broke, so we quickly scrambled to find another affordable place close to the ruins for one night’s stay. At first we were put off by the Hotel Dei Templi, because although it looked lovely, we could not reserve through their web site, which we preferred to do because our Italian is minimal and it was already 9pm the night before our booking. But I phoned anyway, and the owner spoke enough English that we understood each other and made the reservation. We arrived very early in the day, at 10:30am, and he held our bags for us while we explored the archaeological ruins (wonderful!). Returning around 2:30pm, our bags were already in our room and we were pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. This is a lovely classic inviting hotel retaining the charm of its 1800s building but with modern amenities and comfort. Our double room had a separate sitting room with desk and table, a lovely modern spotless bathroom with hot water and good water pressure (a treat after two weeks in southern Italy), iron post bed, high ceilings with beautiful wooden beams, gorgeous windows opening to the ancient walls on one side and a small courtyard on the other, big bureau, and stylishly decorates throughout. So much so that we collapsed and took a nap! And being so close to the ruins, we took a night time stroll back to see the temple lit up at nighttime-beautiful. The owner was charming, easy going, and accomadating. We thouroghly enjoyed our stay. And this lovely room was only $60. Just a few euros more than other places in town which were not anywhere near as nice. Coupled with the excellent meal at Antiche Mura Grill a few steps down the road, this was one of the most relaxing days we had. I highly recommend a stay at Hotel Dei Templi. Spend the night, enjoy the Greek Temples at nighttime, and top it off with a meal at Antiche Mura.

“Nice hotel close to the temples”

Really nice independent hotel close to the temples and the main attractions! The room was nice and very clean but there is no lift ( wasn’t a problem for me but... be aware)! Really nice independent hotel close to the temples and the main attractions! The room was nice and very clean but there is no lift ( wasn’t a problem for me but... be aware)! The breakfast was truly Italian style - so don’t expect a buffet. Piero , the owner was helpful and knowledgeable. Truly enjoyed the experience and I highly recommend it!

“Charming and comfortable ”

I stayed in a very spacious single room on the top floor. The building is quite ancient and this gives the whole charm to the place. Breakfast was fine. I’d recommend it if you don’t want to ruin yourself.
