“Generally a nice and comfortable stay over”

A nice stay over hotel. It’s clean, comfortable and friendly staff. We were part of a tour and checked in very quickly. Breakfast is continental and a good choice. Self service buffet style. Bathroom does have a hairdryer and towels and there’s a nice little touch of complimentary bottle of water.… more

A nice stay over hotel. It’s clean, comfortable and friendly staff. We were part of a tour and checked in very quickly. Breakfast is continental and a good choice. Self service buffet style. Bathroom does have a hairdryer and towels and there’s a nice little touch of complimentary bottle of water. There appears to be a restaurant attached but, as a group, our meal was pre-prepared.

Starting on a positive note, the restaurant area is lovely and breakfast is delicious. However, I struggle to comprehend how this qualifies as a four-star hotel. The reception service is quite poor, though the staff is polite. When I asked for a Christmas Eve dinner recommendation, they simply informed me that their restaurant was closed. Given the hotel’s remote location, exploring local restaurants might not always be a pleasant experience. If you’re visiting on a bank holiday, be prepared to buy sandwiches the day before, as the hotel won’t even be able to make you one. They did recommend a nearby restaurant, but it was also closed! It’s as if they’re completely unaware of what’s happening outside their own walls. There was a water boiler in our room (no coffee or tea bags though?!) that the reception claimed we weren’t allowed to have. We had to ask politely and reluctantly got a few bags. However, the dirty cups weren’t removed by the cleaners for two days, leaving them in our room - a punishment, perhaps? The junior suite was a decent size, but the double bed was uncomfortable and the duvet was thin as a sheet, like a summer duvet in the middle of winter. Bring a warm pyjamas. Another oddity was a shampoo bottle fixed in the wall, both in the shower and by the sink, with no hand soap or cream in sight. Apparently, this magical “shampoo” was for everything. Overall, it’s a decent three-star hotel, but don’t expect anything extraordinary.

“Suitable for an overnight stay on a road trip.”

Close to the highway exit. Very large building. Superior room was a good size. Breakfast selection was very small, but scrambled eggs and hams and cheeses were available. Coffee is available from a machine, but Americano is very poor. You can get better coffee by choosing Espresso or Double Espress… more

Close to the highway exit. Very large building. Superior room was a good size. Breakfast selection was very small, but scrambled eggs and hams and cheeses were available. Coffee is available from a machine, but Americano is very poor. You can get better coffee by choosing Espresso or Double Espresso from the machine and then pouring hot water on top. If you are not very demanding, then it is suitable for a road trip overnight stay. Very slow internet. The hotel is morally outdated and physically worn out. For a 4 star hotel, both the rooms and the service are very poor. At the time of our stay, there were several tourist buses there and since they were having breakfast at the same time as us, there was a lot of crowding.
