Stayed here one night before going to airport. Very quaint hotel with exceptional service. Extremely clean! One block from beach in a working class neighborhood. Very charming. Our train broke down on the way and the manager came and met us and drove us to the hotel. They have a restaurant and the food was inexpensive and very good. They do whatever they can to make you comfortable. The neighborhood is very safe but is working class and older. Not fancy at all but fabulous place to stay. Give this place a try!

“Quaint Hotel in a Beach Town!”

The hotel host, Stefano, made for a great stay. Very communicative and helpful during check-in. Helped arrange airport transportation as well. Extremely hospitable. Although I visited in the off-season, there was still a gorgeous sunset to be seen on the beach that was a short walk away.

My wife and I found this very affordable boutique hotel to be a gem. This hotel is on the outskirts of Fiumicino, in Focene. By taxi, it's €25 from FCO airport. A week before check-in, our host, Stefano, messaged me and said he would meet us after our plane landed, and bring us to the hotel. He was where he said he would be, and gave us the tour of the grounds once we got to the hotel. The rooms are not luxury, but our room was very clean. The towels are on a warming rack, which is very nice. The shower has good pressure and hot water that never gave up. Toilet, bidet, sink, all functional, seemingly new fixtures, and looked sparkly clean to me. Closet has mini fridge and a safe. The smart tv is across from the bed, so watching tv from bed is perfect. There is a counter running the width of the room with 2 chairs, electric kettle, variety of tea, stir sticks, sugar, etc, and 2 cups on a tray. Lighting is bright, heating and AC works, and there is a reading light on both sides of the bed. Mattress was firm, memory foam, warm blanket, clean sheets that are changed every other day by default or as requested. The floor is concrete, but sealed, smooth, and very clean. The room has an inner, sliding glass door with a lock and physical key, and a solid wooden sliding outer door with a lock and same key. The outer door of the room opens into the courtyard, which features the namesake fig tree. There is a grassy space as well as 4 lemon trees. The courtyard also has a walkway all around to each room, and small tables and chairs outside of each room. I've read people describe it as simple or quaint, and this may be true, but I would also say it is classy, in my opinion. The lobby has comfortable seating, some books of art, a cabinet of pretty, glazed pottery, and front desk staffed by a rock star, guaranteed. Past the front desk is the small dining room and espresso machine and breakfast bar. Breakfast was a pretty simple affair, but they make fresh chocolate cake every day (I heard Priscilla operating a hand mixer and asked what she was making). There was cereal, milk, yogurt, bread, toaster, Nutella, fresh fruit, fresh juice, croissants, sliced cheese and wafer thin ham. They will cook eggs if you ask nicely, though that might not be "free" as the continental breakfast was. Dinner is available every evening, and there is a simple menu with several options. The coffee is available at any time. There is a gate that stays closed and locked to enter the courtyard from the street, and guests are given a key to unlock the powered sliding gate. There are stairs to the second level and 2 more rooms (5 on ground floor), and stairs that lead to the roof as well, where you can clearly see the ocean and beach. There is not an elevator. My wife uses a manual wheelchair, and there is a small step up to the room that was no problem for us to navigate. Our 3rd day we took a taxi back to the hotel after walking around Rome (very challenging in a wheelchair as there are cobbles everywhere!) and we inadvertently left a backpack in the taxi. The receipt did not have a phone number, but Priscilla got out her iPhone and diligently began calling cab companies to try to track down our backpack. She was so kind and understanding and easily spent an hour making phone calls. We were reunited with our backpack, and I can't thank Priscilla enough!! We ate dinner there one night and the lasagna was really good! The espresso was just perfect in the morning and after long days exploring Rome, Vatican city, and Fiumicino. If we ever visit Rome again, we'll stay at Intorno al Fico again.
