“The perfect hotel in a great location”

Beautiful room and bathroom facing a colosseum like structure. Good breakfast. Great products in bathroom. A thermos of sleep tea placed in the room was a lovely touch. Fantastic location a few mins away from shops and Spanish steps. Would definitely stay again.

“Could've been a memorable stay”

Having stayed at Bvlgari properties in Dubai and Milan, we decided to stay at the iconic Rome location for a few nights in early July, given its history. I will start with the positives: Needless to say, this is a beautiful hotel with immaculate designs. We loved the sculptures, the display cabinets, the greens throughout, especially outside where the breakfast area is, the photos on the wall capturing Bvlgari's history and masterpieces, and the high ceiling which captured a fantastic amount of natural sunlight. Our suite was very comfortable and clean, with a well-used of space, the entryway has a well-lit full-length mirror, the bathroom has a double vanity stocked with exclusive Bvlgari amenities, marble throughout, a spacious shower/tub area with big and plush towels. We also appreciated the smaller details, such as room slippers that are made with all-natural materials. The provided adaptor, cables with USB, USBC and lightning plugs were a thoughtful touch. The patterns and weavings on the window sheers are beautiful and of delicate work. The balcony area was small, but it offers a half street view and a half courtyard view. Not the most phenomenal view, but it was very European. Turndown service was another area worth complimenting, we were offered tea served in a thermal bottle alongside 2 nice ceramic cups, and thin pillows were laid out on both sides of the bed so it was extra comfortable when we stepped in and out of bed. Our suite was also stocked with good-quality glass-bottled still and sparkling water. Breakfasts at the Bvlgari hotel have consistently been great; this applies to the other 2 locations we've stayed at. Everything was beautifully presented, and the menu features a good selection and variety. The quality of the food was good. The separate pilates room with the reformer machine was very nice, with comfortable lighting, clean and tidy. This room, though complimentary, needs to be reserved in advance with the concierge. The pool and spa were up to standard, with the pool beautifully designed with marble columns and mosaics resembling Diva's Dream. The rooftop bar offers a decent view, with a good number of seating areas. Drink quality and pricing are expected at a hotel like this, not the best value. Here are some noticeable areas that were less than ideal: This used to be an old office building being transformed into a hotel, and the original layout was sort of built like a maze. Nothing can be improved in this case, but we had trouble navigating around the hotel. The room key was just a blank white card, with no hotel name printed, no pattern or designs, rather unacceptable for a hotel like this. The card reader inside the elevator also took about 4 seconds to register. Throughout our stay, we noted on different occasions where we asked for additional amenities, the delivery times varied: 10 minutes for ice, 17 minutes for a lavender pillow, 33 minutes for bath salt that was not delivered until our second phone follow-up. The overall service during our stay was rather inconsistent, ranging from check-in to daily departure and return to the hotel greetings, in-room call for amenities, concierge, doormen presence and helpfulness. The only team that was consistently good was the breakfast team. The gym was relatively small, filled with an unpleasantly heavy sanitising smell, and the blinding light. Here comes the worst part of our experience, and unfortunately it happened during check-in, which substantially ruined our first impression: We confirmed our reservation via email on May 30th with a reservation agent named Alessandro Del Sordo, which was a package that guaranteed an upgrade to the junior suite from a premium room that we originally booked. When we arrived, the young gentleman said our room was ready and had offered us a nice upgrade. He escorted us to our room, and it turned out to be the original premium room, not the junior suite that was confirmed months ago by the reservation team. We politely clarified with him the situation, and for some odd reason, he insisted the premium room was the junior suite, which we know for a fact was not correct, as we had asked for additional pictures before we confirmed our booking to clarify the ambiguity displayed on the hotel's website. He then agreed to check with his team and will get back to us. We went to the lobby restaurant for coffee while we waited. Shortly after, a young lady approached and explained that there was confusion with either the system or the internal team, and that the premium room was the only room available, as all suites were sold out. Evidently, we did not accept any of it, and we provided all the correspondence for her to look over. She later returned and apologised again, but what she said afterwards shocked us, "I am sorry for the inconvenience but we have no suites available, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO". I have never heard such a thing said to a guest in my years of global travel, let alone hearing it in a hotel of this calibre. I asked to speak to her manager, and that he or she would know what to do. Magically, a suite became available, and they were going to help us move the bags to the room once the other guests checked out and the room had been cleaned, all without the manager ever showing up to speak to us. This interaction left us with some thoughts about this hotel and its management. ***When we checked into Bvlgari Milan, our room was not ready by the time we arrived. Instead of simply asking us to wait, we were escorted to Niko Romito restaurant and our lunch was fully comped. After the aforementioned debacle, not a slight gesture or effort was made*** We had a pleasant stay overall; however, with the price point and all the less-than-ideal issues we have dealt with, I cannot confidently recommend this hotel. Hardware is great, but I have reservations about the value proposition and the level of service at this hotel.
