It’s been such an incredible experience. It’s not my first time at this hotel but every time I come back I find the same kind, super helpful people , extremely professional and friendly. On this stay I have to highlight Giula S from breakfast who’s been adorable. You can tell she’s passionate about her job, she remembers people’s preferences and attends them with so much proactive attitude. She’s always smiling and she seems happy all the time which also gives you a good vibe. Loved her , I hope management know how lucky they are to have her in their team

“Excellent Staff, Decent Price, Amazing Breakfast, Unsatisfactory Exec Lounge”

We were immediately greeted and assisted at the door by staff, and able to check in at 8:30am after a long flight from the US. We received an upgraded room due to diamond status, complimentary executive lounge access each evening, and complimentary breakfast buffet each morning. Location of hotel is convenient with a 2-min walk to the metro station which connects directly to the main metro and train station. Because the hotel is located near the southern edge of Rome, the room rate is lower than other hotels in the city, and well worth the price. The staff working the breakfast buffet were excellent. They were almost always attentive, helpful, friendly, and efficient. The food was amazing with unending choices including fresh juice with celery & ginger made to order, eggs cooked to order, coffee made to order, cinnamon muffins with freshly drizzled icing. The food I appreciated most was the salad bar with fresh greens since it's so difficult to find healthy salads while sightseeing. The executive lounge was somewhat of a disappointment in comparison with other Hiltons. It was completely full in January and kept the staff busy. The first evening the food/prosecco ran out several times and there were not enough staff to keep it fully supplied, however, the food was not up to standard that evening. Some sort of dry deep-fried samosa was served with no sauce. We were also disappointed that the staff worker didn't know what food she would be bringing with her when she returned. It was like a crap shoot, and she didn't know what the kitchen would give her; so, the meatballs ran out and were never resupplied on the 2nd eve. This caused guests to overfill their plates, afraid that the tasty dishes would be downgraded. I even waited in line for 10 min. one eve because the staff replenished the hot dish and everyone jumped to fill their plates. I suggest Hilton enlarges the existing lounge and reallocates 2 or more employees to share the load for the entire 2 hours in the lounge, running back and forth from the kitchen and removing dirty dishes. The one staff worker worked very hard and could not keep up with everyone's needs & hunger. We were upgraded to Two Double Beds Guest Room on the 4th floor. Because we checked in so early, reception asked us if the 4th floor was ok. Because we’d never been there before, we didn't have an answer, but we took what she gave us. It was disappointing. One side of the room was all window and would have been beautiful, but the view was of another building that could see into the room and was very dreary. I suggest instead of asking if the 4th floor is ok, the reception says what the view is from the 4th floor and then asks if it's ok and offers alternatives. The other disappointing feature of the room is the open bathroom. There is no door to the bathroom sink, only a small dividing wall in the middle of the room, at the foot of the beds. To the left of the sink is the toilet with a frosted glass door and to the right is the shower with a partially frosted glass door (what is the purpose of a partially frosted glass shower door... do people want to be partially seen while showering?) This design is extremely disappointing because I don't know of anyone who wants to be moving their bowels in the room where they and other people are staying! The only consolation was that I read this in reviews beforehand and emailed the hotel to provide a partition, which they happily provided. It was a flimsy bamboo-looking partition that unrolled over the opening to the sink, and one day it completely fell on the floor. Every time we wanted to use the bathroom, we had to slip in through the opening and reroll it to cover the opening, and then do the same to exit (see pics). I read reviews complaining about the elevators but found them to be sufficient. We were never made to wait long, as there were at least 3 working elevators. Only once did an elevator stop mid-trip with 7 people, and we had to repress the button. Overall, I would recommend this hotel but ask Hilton to PLEASE put sound-proof doors on the bathrooms and enlarge the executive lounge with sufficient staff. When I return to Rome, I will most likely stay here again.
