“Looks like I'm the first !”

As the first to review this hotel on Tripadvisor I'll try to give a detailed review. We must admit to feeling somewhat less than impressed when we arrived, we had to walk through the restaurant to the unassuming reception and were signed in by the waiter. After climbing 4 flights of stairs with our cases, aided by the aforementioned waiter ( to be fair the hotel was advertised as having no elevator ) we entered the room which although tidy seemed somewhat cramped. There was a small table and 2 chairs placed in front of the wardrobes which limited access to the wardrobes and which we never used.The bathroom was fine though the shower a little cramped. Upon opening the door to the terrace however our hearts softened as we saw the view. The river Magra and sea on one side and the magnificent Apuan Alps on the other. The terrace was large and was furnished with a large table, 4 chairs, and 2 loungers. ( a word of warning, if there is nobody else in the room don't close the door when on the terrace as there appeared to be no way to open it again from outside ! ) There was also a (shared) balcony on the river side. Breakfast was more than adequate, no hot plates, but plenty of cereal, cold meats, cheese, breads, fruit, yoghurt, cake etc. and waiter service for tea and coffee. A special mention here for our morning waiter, Vincenzo, who couldn't have been more helpful ( even opening up early for us on our departure morning ) and was the only member of staff we met with more than a smattering of English. As the week went on we found that we liked the Stella more and more, it is what is says it is, a small family hotel with a relaxed ambience. There is a restaurant and bar though these close about 10.30 out of season. Don't expect 50 television channels in the room, or 24 hour room service, but you'll be treated like a distant member of the family whose been given the best guest room. Fiumaretta is a small riverside resort within strolling distance to the sea and a mix of bathing establishments and public beaches, very relaxed, a few shops and bars/restaurants, but with bus services to nearby Sarzana and in high season boat trips to Lerici, Portovenere, and from there to the Cinque Terre. We had no car, but it would perhaps be advisable if you mean to explore further afield. In conlusion,by the end of our 8 day stay, we had grown to love the hotel and the resort and were sad to say arrivedercci. P.S The best room is no.211, but 210 and 209 should also have fine views.

stayed here for just 2 nights,location is lovely right on the waterfront of river magna beautiful views from room balconies, the rooms are spacious beds a bit hard !,bathrooms are functional but not great.breakfast is fresh and varied cold buffet with croissants, if you want fresh bread do not expect to eat breakfast early as bread delivery is after 8am, had dinner outside on the waterfront service is good and food fresh and tasty, the hotel staff are friendly.overall.a good stay unsure if i would choose this one again.
